The A\u2019s will go with an opener today as left-handed Brady Basso<\/strong> gets the start for what\u2019ll be his 11th appearance of the year and first starting assignment. No one should expect him to go five innings today as he\u2019s only expected to be an opener, but Basso\u2019s done well in his limited time with the A\u2019s after missing most of the year to injury. It\u2019d be a nice way to head into the offseason for him if he could wrap the season for the A\u2019s on a high note.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The A\u2019s lineup for the final game of the season shakes out like this:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Royals will counter Basso with lefty Cole Ragans<\/strong>. The Royals starter has limped to a 5.02 ERA this season and has missed a couple months due to injury. It\u2019s been a disappointing follow up to last season, when he was an All-Star and finished fourth in AL Cy Young voting. He\u2019s been vulnerable on the mound this year but he has the ability to lock down an opposing offense if they\u2019re not ready for him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kansas City\u2019s lineup for the final game of the year:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n An even .500 record is out of reach for the A\u2019s, but they could doom the Royals to an even 81-81 record for the offseason with a win today so that\u2019s some motivation for the Green & Gold.
