Jennifer Lopez has no regrets about getting divorced from Ben Affleck.<\/p>\n
In fact, Lopez, 56, called the 2024 split <\/a>\u201cthe best thing that ever happened to me\u201d in new interview with \u201cCBS Sunday Morning.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The \u201cLet\u2019s Get Loud\u201d singer spoke about Affleck, 53, while promoting her upcoming musical movie \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman,\u201d<\/a> which he produced.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was tough. It was a really tough time,\u201d she said of filming the project last year while dealing with the turmoil in her personal life.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was hard not to think about stuff. It was the best and the worst of times, in a way,\u201d Lopez continued. \u201cEvery moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then it was like, back home, it was not great. It was just like, how do I reconcile this? But you get through it.\u201d<\/p>\n Lopez added: \u201cHonestly, I have to say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Because it changed me\u2026 it didn\u2019t change me, it helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow. Become more self-aware. I\u2019m a different person now than I was last year, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cUnstoppable\u201d actress, who finalized her divorce<\/a> from Affleck in January, said that this past summer was \u201cprobably the best summer I ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI had so much fun. I\u2019m able to enjoy things more,\u201d she shared. \u201cThe joy is in living and these moments and really embracing life and everything that it brings to you for the lessons it brings and then for all the triumphs it brings. And the hard times are the lessons, and you have to understand that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd once you do, everything becomes a little bit lighter and you can really, really fly,\u201d the mom of two<\/a> added. \u201cIf that hadn\u2019t have happened, I wouldn\u2019t understand that.\u201d<\/p>\n Lopez also admitted that she wouldn\u2019t have \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d if it wasn\u2019t for Affleck.<\/p>\n \u201cThe movie wouldn\u2019t have been made if it wasn\u2019t for him and Artists Equity,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I will always give him that credit.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey financed it. I told him this was the role I was born to play and I wanted to do it, and he was like, \u2018Okay.\u2019 And he helped make it happen,\u201d <\/a>Lopez recalled.<\/p>\n Directed by Bill Condon, \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d is adapted from the Tony Award-winning musical, which is based on Manuel Puig\u2019s 1976 novel.<\/p>\n In the film, \u201cAndor\u201d actor Diego Luna <\/a>plays a political prisoner during Argentina\u2019s civil war whose cellmate (played by newcomer Tonatiuh Elizarraraz) recounts an old movie starring his favorite classic screen actress, Ingrid Luna (Lopez). <\/p>\n Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck<\/a> in Aug. 2024 after two years of marriage.<\/p>\n A source\u00a0told\u00a0People<\/a>\u00a0at the time that Lopez \u201cdid spend a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed,\u201d but Affleck had\u00a0\u201cerratic mood swings,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which allegedly contributed to their split.<\/p>\n Last October, Lopez told\u00a0Interview Magazine<\/a>\u00a0she\u2019s grateful for the lessons that the divorce taught her.<\/p>\n \u201cThat doesn\u2019t mean it didn\u2019t almost take me out for good. It almost did,\u201d she said. \u201cBut now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, \u2018F\u2013k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I\u2019m sorry it took me so long. I\u2019m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Affleck, for his part, stated in April that the exes are on good terms<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cFor the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,\u201d he said the \u201cAccountant 2\u201d premiere. \u201cI love her kids. They\u2019re wonderful.
