\u201cTalent Agents Circle AI Actress Tilly Norwood As Studios Quietly Embrace AI Technology<\/a>,\u201d Deadline reported.<\/p>\n But real actors and directors were quick to point out this was no \u201cactress\u201d at all.<\/p>\n Norwood<\/a> is the creation of AI \u201ctalent\u201d studio Xicoia<\/a>, headed up by Eline Van Der Velden<\/a> from the Particle6<\/a> AI production studio.<\/p>\n Deadline reported that Van Der Velden said at the recent Zurich Summit that the studio was talking to talent agents who had expressed interest in signing Norwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we first launched Tilly, people were like, \u2018What\u2019s that?\u2019, and now we\u2019re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her<\/a> in the next few months,\u201d Van Der Velden said.<\/p>\n Real Hollywood talents have been speaking out about the development.<\/p>\n \u201cShame on these people,\u201d actor Mara Wilson<\/a> (\u201cMrs. Doubtfire,\u201d \u201cMatilda\u201d) said on Instagram. \u201cThey have stolen the faces of hundreds of young women to make this AI \u2018actress.\u2019 They\u2019re not creators. The AI creation glows about filming \u201cscreen tests\u201d in the captions.<\/p>\n \u201cTo those who have expressed anger over the creation of our AI character, Tilly Norwood: she is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work – a piece of art,\u201d Van Der Velden said<\/a>. \u201cLike many art forms before her, she sparks conversation, and that in itself shows the power of creativity.<\/p>\n \u201cI see AI not as a replacement for people, but as a new tool \u2014 a new paintbrush,” she said. \u201cJust as animation, puppetry, or CGI opened fresh possibilities without taking away from live acting.
