BeforeBob Dylan<\/strong><\/a> became a music legend, he was a smitten teenager with a crush \u2014 and her name wasBrigitte Bardot<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n Long before his name was synonymous with folk rock, a young Dylan found inspiration in one of the most iconic<\/a> women of the era. Captivated by her beauty, Dylan reportedly wrote his very first song titled \u201cSong For Brigitte.\u201d<\/p>\n Though the track<\/a> was never released, it resurfaced during a 1966 interview with Playboy<\/a>magazine, where Dylan was asked about the first track he ever wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t recall too much of it,\u201d he replied. \u201cIt had only one chord. Well, it is all in the heart.\u201d While no recordings or lyrics of the song have surfaced, Dylan\u2019s own words and the context suggest it was a heartfelt tribute, or teenage love letter, to the French bombshell.<\/p>\n In that same interview, Dylan also shared how his musical journey began. \u201cI saved the money I had made working on my daddy\u2019s truck and bought a Silvertone guitar from Sears Roebuck. I was 12. I just bought a book of chords and began to play.\u201d<\/p>\n However, a lesser-known pamphlet from Dylan\u2019s first Carnegie Hall performance in 1961 offers an alternate detail. In it, Dylan reportedly wrote<\/a>, \u201cI started writing my own songs about four or five years ago. First song was to Brigitte Bardot, for piano. Thought if I wrote the song I\u2019d sing it to her one day. Never met her.\u201d<\/p>\n The Bardot references didn\u2019t end with his teenage years. Dylan went on to mention her again in his 1963 track \u201cI Shall Be Free,\u201d from his album The Freewheelin\u2019 Bob Dylan. The lyrics read:<\/p>\n \u201cWell, my telephone rang it would not stop \/ It\u2019s President Kennedy callin\u2019 me up \/ He said, \u2018My friend, Bob, what do we need to make the \/ country grow?\u2019\/ I said, \u2018My friend, John, Brigitte Bardot.\u201d<\/p>\n Though Bardot and Dylan never met, he did find his own muse closer to home. His first girlfriend, Echo Helstrom Casey<\/strong><\/a>, is often speculated as the inspiration behind his beloved 1963 ballad \u201cGirl From the North Country<\/a>.\u201d The two attended Hibbing High School in Minnesota, where they went to junior prom together in 1957.<\/p>\n In her yearbook, Dylan left a reported note<\/a>, \u201cLet me tell you that your beauty is second to none.
