After working for the British royal family for seven years, butler Grant Harrold<\/strong> documented his experience in his memoir, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service.<\/em><\/p>\n Having been published in August, Harrold opened up in a new interview<\/a> about his claims regarding Prince Philip<\/a>\u2019s waggish conduct inside the walls of the royal estates.<\/p>\n \u201cHe [Prince Philip] would come out with these classic lines and then follow up with a swear word or something,\u201d Harrold said. \u201cI always remember this one time\u2026 I think I was cleaning up after breakfast in the dining room. I looked outside and saw this gentleman walking around. Immediately, I recognized it was Prince Philip\u2026 I went to one of the other butlers and said, \u2018Should we go out and see if he needs anything?\u2019 They all looked at me and said, \u2018No!\u2019 And I said, \u2018Why?\u2019 They all continued, \u2018No, no, no!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Harrold elaborated on Philip\u2019s reputation with royal staffers, saying, \u201cthey were a bit nervous of him,\u201d adding, \u201cHe was blunt \u2014 he wasn\u2019t everyone\u2019s cup of tea, if I can say that\u2026 But I adored Prince Philip. That\u2019s what I liked about him. I liked the fact that he didn\u2019t suffer fools, and he did speak his mind.\u201d<\/p>\n Having been married to Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>, who was also known for her quick wit, Harrold recalled that during their marriage, the queen was smitten over her husband\u2019s one-of-a-kind personality.<\/p>\n \u201cPerpetually in hot water over his inappropriate comments, Prince Philip was a hoot to be around,\u201d the former royal butler explained. \u201cWith a permanent glint in his eye, Philip was the rock that kept Queen Elizabeth smiling. Although on one occasion she was horrified when a family member remarked on her flawless complexion and Philip piped up, \u2018Yes, and she’s like that all over.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n In his newly released memoir, Harrold recounted Philip\u2019s reaction to Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a>\u2019s long-winded wedding ceremony, writing<\/a>, \u201cOnce all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the Royal Family, filed out of the chapel. When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the Queen and said, \u2018Thank f— that\u2019s over<\/a>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Harrold detailed his excerpt about Philip during his interview, saying that when he began working for the royals in 2004, he quickly acquainted himself with the prince\u2019s ability to say \u201cit as it was.\u201d<\/p>\n The royal butler continued, \u201cHe didn\u2019t hold back. He was well known for using his alternative words, let\u2019s put it that way. As I mentioned regarding his comment when he came out of the chapel, that was what I had witnessed over the years.
