Bruce Springsteen<\/a>, who blasted<\/a> President Donald Trump<\/a> in a Time interview published last week, spoke Sunday of a \u201cbattered\u201d America trying to operate without \u201cfear or divisiveness or government censorship or hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The rock legend appeared at the New York Film Festival premiere of a movie about his life, \u201cSpringsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.\u201d The film covers Springsteen\u2019s struggle against depression and burnout as he worked on his 1982 \u201cNebraska\u201d album. The music icon is played by Jeremy Allen White.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Springsteen, 76, has stepped up his criticism of the president since the second term began, but kept his remarks somewhat aspirational to the festival audience \u2015 without mentioning Trump specifically.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThese days, we have daily events reminding us of the fact that we\u2019re living through these particularly dangerous times,\u201d he said. \u201cI spent my life on the road. I\u2019ve been moving around the world. I was a kind of musical ambassador for America, you know, trying to measure the distance between American reality, where we\u2019ve often fallen short of our ideals, and the American Dream.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n He added, \u201cI\u2019ve seen that America, as battered as she feels right now. But for a lot of folks out there, she continues to be a land of hope and dreams, not of fear, or divisiveness, or government censorship, or hatred. That America\u2019s worth fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Lincoln Center crowd cheered Springsteen\u2019s apparent dig at Trump for his administration\u2019s pressure tactics, which led to Disney-owned network ABC temporarily pulling Jimmy Kimmel from the air, Yuan reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But Springsteen didn\u2019t go further, which could have been awkward given the presence of Disney CEO Bob Iger. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSo, it\u2019s in that spirit that I brought along my lifelong weapon of choice: the guitar,\u201d Springsteen said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He made a few more remarks before playing \u201cLand of Hope and Dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Springsteen told Time in a story posted last week that Trump \u201cis the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for.
