Bad Bunny<\/span> has been unveiled as the headlining performer at next year\u2019s Super Bowl Halftime Show<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the early hours of Monday morning, the Puerto Rican singer and rapper shared the news in a teaser clip depicting him sitting on the bar of an American football goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his time in the spotlight, Bad Bunny has won three Grammys<\/span>, racked up four number one albums in the US, collaborated with some of the biggest names in music and also broken out into acting<\/a>, modelling<\/a> and even, briefly, professional wrestling<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, he announced a residency in his native Puerto Rico, followed by a 23-city stadium tour that notably did not include any dates in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amid the current political climate in the States, i-D<\/a> recently asked Bad Bunny if this was a decision made \u201cout of concern about Latinos in the United States\u201d, to which he responded: \u201cMan, honestly, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were many reasons why I didn\u2019t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate \u2013 I\u2019ve performed there many times,\u201d he noted, before adding: \u201cThere was the issue of \u2013 like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it\u2019s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Posting on X moments before the Super Bowl announcement was made, Bad Bunny \u2013 whose legal name is Benito Mart\u00ednez Ocasio \u2013 wrote (translated from Spanish): \u201c<\/span>I\u2019ve been thinking about it the last few days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I\u2019ll do just one date in the United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With his upcoming set, Bad Bunny will make history as the first solo Latino headliner at the Super Bowl, as well as the first male performer of Latin descent to appear in the slot.<\/span><\/p>\n

And the significance of this announcement given the current situation in the US has not been lost on his fans:<\/span><\/p>\n

Jay-Z<\/span>, whose company Roc Nation has been partly in charge of the Super Bowl Halftime Show since 2019, said: \u201cWhat Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honoured to have him on the world\u2019s biggest stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next year\u2019s Super Bowl will take place at the Levi\u2019s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday 8 February 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n
