Debbie Harry<\/strong><\/a> has never described hitting \u201crock bottom,\u201d but she\u2019s been candid about facing one of the most difficult chapters of her career after Blondie\u2019s<\/a> original run came to an end in the 1980s.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t really know if I feel like I\u2019ve had a worst phase,\u201d the legendary frontwoman reflected to Vice<\/a> in a 2017 resurfaced interview. \u201cI mean, there\u2019s been worst times\u2026 I guess there was a time in the second half of the 80s that was pretty awful.\u201d<\/p>\n That low point coincided with multiple personal and professional crises. \u201cIt mostly had to do with when the band broke up, when Chris [Stein] was sick, when the IRS took the house. I mean, everything just went \u2018Braah!\u2019 That was pretty awful. But I guess I just wiggled through. And I really love Chris, and that was important, you know. I couldn\u2019t have walked away from the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n Blondie rose to fame in the late \u201870s and early \u201880s with chart-toppers like \u201cHeart of Glass,\u201d \u201cCall Me\u201d and \u201cRapture.\u201d Their success made Harry a household name, but by 1982, the band had called it quits.<\/p>\n While fans speculated about what caused the split, Harry has always pointed to a combination of burnout and bad business.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a madhouse,\u201d Harry recalled in a 1993 interview with Q<\/a>. \u201cWe didn\u2019t take any vacations and that was the big mistake. Whenever we read bad reviews, we\u2019d have these tremendous fist fights and everybody would be really freaked out and pissed off with everybody else for being jerks. It was like punching up your brothers, a family feud thing.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, despite the hardships, and even turning down iconic roles, including one in Blade Runner <\/a>due to label obligations, Harry continued pushing forward.<\/p>\n In 1997, Blondie officially reunited with four original members and eventually released No Exit<\/a>, featuring the No. 1 hit single \u201cMaria.\u201d The band has since dropped multiple albums, while Harry has also released solo work.<\/p>\n Fans waiting for new music won\u2019t have to wait too much longer. Blondie recently announced in a press release<\/a> on their official website that their new album, High Noon, is set for release in spring 2026.<\/p>\n High Noon will be the beloved band\u2019s first studio album since 2017\u2019s Pollinator, marking a major return after nearly a decade.<\/p>\n The band has been quietly working behind the scenes. In July, founding guitarist Chris Stein<\/strong><\/a>shared a photo<\/a> of Harry with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton<\/strong>, confirming he produced the new record.<\/p>\n Stein also confirmed on X<\/a> that late drummer Clem Burke<\/strong><\/a> performed on the entire album.
