He wanted it to be known that his team&#8217;s results were unacceptable this time around, and that Kansas City needed to find whatever motivation it could to make it back to October next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_s31jol5tm\">\u201cWe have our team,\u201d Witt said, <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_1gn6yjz\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/royals\/news\/carter-jensen-homers-in-royals-win-in-final-game-of-2025-season\" target=\"_blank\">per Anne Rogers<\/a> of MLB.com. \u201cWe have our pitchers back. We have our core. Now we\u2019ve got to ask, \u2018How motivated can we get because of this year?\u2019 We can\u2019t be satisfied with playing .500. We can\u2019t be satisfied with making the postseason one year. Hopefully it lights a fire under the guys. I\u2019m ready to get to work.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_zvw98ftnt\">Though Witt surely expects more of himself, it&#8217;s not as though anyone can blame him for the Royals&#8217; failures this year. He led the majors in hits (184) and doubles (47), all while putting up a 136 OPS+ and playing Gold Glove defense at shortstop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_3rgsfwmiq\">It&#8217;s on the Royals&#8217; other returners to pick up the slack next year, and on general manager J.J.
