Country music star Tyler Rich told Taste of Country recently that he and his wife, actress Sabina Gabecki, narrowly dodged being mauled by a Grizzly bear while celebrating their anniversary with a vacation trip to Yellowstone. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe went down (to) Yellowstone and went on a couple hikes and stuff,\u201d Rich said. \u201cWe were seconds away from being mauled by a grizzly bear. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was pretty cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
Good chance he would not have been saying that had the bear been able to make up those few seconds. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe were alone, on ATVs and literally like 20 years in front of us was a Volkswagen-sized grizzly and her two cubs and I just froze. <\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t know what to do,\u201d he added. \u201cI had like 20 ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n
A good idea might have been to fire up that ATV engine and head in the opposite direction, but Rich said it kind of took care of itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut in that moment, you are just like, humbled,\u201d he said. \u201cShe like ran away from us, but the trail we had to keep going on on the ATV trail literally where they were just running.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rich said he told his wife what kind of danger they were in after.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was like, \u2018A mom grizzly bear that thinks her cubs are threatened is the number one apex predator on the Earth,\u2019\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Rich told Taste of Country<\/a> that protecting his wife might have been a romantic way to die.<\/p>\n \u201cShe actually said something like that, she said, \u2018You know, it might have been a sweet ending.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI obviously would have just ran straight at the bear so she could get away,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd she was like, \u2018No, I would run at the bear.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
