Leah Remini<\/strong> is reflecting on her hit ’90s\/2000s sitcom,The King of Queens<\/em>, which premiered 27 years ago.<\/p>\n While Remini, now 55, is perhaps best known for speaking out (and speaking strongly against<\/a>) the Church of Scientology she grew up in, it was The King of Queens<\/em> that gave the actress her breakthrough role as Carrie Heffernan \u2014 wife of Kevin James’ titular Doug Heffernan \u2014\u00a0whose thick New York accent and sarcastic demeanor instantly endeared her to viewers.<\/p>\n In addition to starring alongside James, the actors were also joined on-screen by iconic comedian Jerry Stiller<\/strong>, who played Carrie’s dad, Arthur. (Stiller, who was the real-life father of Ben Stiller<\/strong>, also portrayed George Constanza’s dad on Seinfeld<\/em> in the ’90s.)<\/p>\n Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, September 29, Remini shared a throwback King of Queens<\/em> promo photo<\/a> of her, James and the late Stiller, who died in 2020 at the age of 92.<\/p>\n “It\u2019s been 27 years since The King of Queens <\/em>premiered, and I still get so many messages every single day from fans <\/a>who tell me that our show is still a part of their daily lives,” she wrote. “I am so grateful. Thank you for 27 years of amazing memories.”<\/p>\n Both Remini and James \u2014\u00a0who reunited in the 2016 sitcom Kevin Can Wait<\/em> \u2014\u00a0were outspoken about their hesitancy to do a reboot of The King of Queens<\/em><\/a> without Stiller. (James, for his part, blatantly \u2014 and repeatedly \u2014\u00a0stated he couldn’t do the show without the iconic comedian.)<\/p>\n In June, when asked about a potential reboot of the series, Remini told Us Weekly<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that she would “consider it,” though “it would be hard to do a show like that without\u00a0Jerry Stiller.
