The Duchess of York faces being stripped of an honorary title over her links to Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>, it has emerged.<\/p>\n

York council is to debate whether to remove her Freedom of the City over her past support of the late financier<\/a> and convicted paedophile.<\/p>\n

The further blow to her reputation will be debated by councillors in November. The Duke of York was stripped<\/a> of the Freedom of the City, which had been bestowed on the couple as a wedding present in 1987, three years ago.<\/p>\n

The Duchess, 65, was recently revealed to have sent Epstein an email in 2011<\/a> in which she described him as a \u201csteadfast, generous and supreme friend\u201d after he had been convicted of procuring a child for prostitution. This came after she had publicly apologised for accepting \u00a315,000 from him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The revelation earlier this month prompted several charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and the British Heart Foundation, to drop their associations with her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several organisations said it would be \u201cinappropriate\u201d for the Duchess to continue her patronage, including Julia\u2019s House, a children\u2019s hospice, and the Children\u2019s Literacy Charity.<\/p>\n

Sources have also indicated that the Duke and Duchess will not be welcome at the Royal family\u2019s Christmas celebrations.<\/p>\n

The King is said to be keen to keeping the pair at arm\u2019s length, making clear that he would also like them to be more discreet when attending family occasions, such as church services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
