With Netflix\u2019s latest mystery drama, Wayward<\/strong>, already sparking discussions about a potential Season 2, program creator Mae Martin<\/strong> has provided a positive update on the series\u2019 future. In a recent interview, the Feel Good alum remarked that even though Netflix has been marketing Wayward as a limited series, there is ample room for the show to return for a sequel installment.<\/p>\n While speaking to TV Insider<\/a>, Martin revealed that they already have plans for a potential Wayward Season 2, provided that Netflix chooses to renew the project for a follow-up installment.<\/p>\n \u201cI was told it was a miniseries, but there\u2019s definitely more story to tell, I think. We left all those characters in crisis, basically. Hopefully, it\u2019s tied up enough that it\u2019s satisfying to watch as a series,\u201d Martin explained.<\/p>\n During the discussion, Toni Collette, who portrays Evelyn Wade, the conniving head teacher at Tall Pines Academy, noted that the Wayward cast constantly \u201ctalks about\u201d coming back for Season 2. \u201cIt\u2019s endlessly intriguing. So many places it could go, for sure,\u201d the Hereditary star added.<\/p>\n Sydney Topliffe and Alyvia Alyn Lind, who play Tall Pines students Abbie and Leila, respectively, also expressed their enthusiasm for returning for a possible second season. \u201cI would love to come back,\u201d Topliffe stated. Meanwhile, Lind requested Martin to come up with a sequel, noting, \u201cMae, if you\u2019re listening, we\u2019re here. We\u2019re ready.\u201d<\/p>\n Talking about the themes they\u2019d like to explore if Wayward Season 2 does happen, Martin said that they\u2019d like to \u201cdig deeper\u201d into supporting cast members. The follow-up installment would essentially deal with the aftermath of Evelyn\u2019s downfall, Abbie\u2019s escape, as well as Alex and Leila\u2019s decisions. The characters that would receive more attention in this setting, as per Martin, would be Isolde Ardies\u2019 Stacey, Tricia Black\u2019s Mule, and Joshua Close\u2019s Duck.
