Singer Cat Stevens says he\u2019s postponing his U.S. book tour after \u201cwaiting months for visa approvals.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cWild World\u201d and \u201cPeace Train\u201d songwriter \u2014 who was born Steven Georgiou and is also known as Yusuf, the name he took shortly after he converted to Islam in 1977 \u2014 shared\u00a0a message<\/a>\u00a0with his fans on his website on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cSadly, my \u2018Cat on the Road to Findout\u2019 Book Tour in the U.S. and Canada looks like it won\u2019t go ahead as scheduled in October,\u201d Stevens said.<\/p>\n \u201cWaiting months for visa approvals, we held out as long as we could,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, at this point, the production logistics necessary for my show cannot be arranged in time,\u201d the 77-year-old British performer said.<\/p>\n \u201cI am really upset! Not least for my fans who have bought tickets and made travel plans to see me perform.\u201d<\/p>\n The tour, originally announced in May, was poised to include stops in cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Promotional materials described it as an \u201cin-depth conversation\u201d with Stevens about his new memoir, which \u201cchronicles his evolution from chart-topping pop star to spiritual seeker.\u201d<\/p>\n Another tour date in Toronto was also postponed, according to Stevens, who expressed optimism about eventually making it to the U.S.<\/p>\n \u201cNorth American audiences may still get a chance to see the tour if visa approvals eventually come through,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cMeanwhile, tour delays should not affect the book, which you\u2019ll still be able to enjoy\u2026 the obvious benefit of it being \u2014 books don\u2019t need visas!\u201d Stevens said.<\/p>\n Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
