Imagine that you’re a college football player about to win the big game, and then you fumble the ball right before the end zone because you’re showboating. Now, the world hates your guts. Do you apologize and move on, or do you adhere prosthetics to your face and pretend to be a new guy? Well, Glen Powell<\/a> elects for the latter in the new Hulu<\/a> series, Chad Powers<\/em>. The Twisters<\/a> <\/em>actor plays a former college football star who takes a page from Mrs. Doubtfire<\/em>\u2019s playbook and tricks everyone into thinking he\u2019s an undiscovered talent.<\/p>\n

The idea started as an Omaha Productions skit with Eli Manning<\/a>, which saw the former New York Giants quarterback wear prosthetics and try out for Penn State as a walk-on candidate named Chad Powers. Somehow, Manning\u2019s caveman-looking disguise actually fooled the assistant head coach into believing that he was a twenty-something-year-old freak who could throw the ball like a retired NFL Super Bowl champion. The video garnered over 10 million views on YouTube, which then prompted Omaha Productions to turn “Chad Powers” into a scripted TV show. The concept eventually found its way to Powell and Loki<\/a> <\/em>creator Michael Waldron.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were like, This is the way to make a college football show, which has never been done,\u201d <\/em>Waldron told Esquire<\/a>. \u201cI’m sure you could make Succession<\/em> in the world of college football and it’d be really interesting, but you’d have to go there. Because this is a comedy, it weirdly frees you up to stay more character-focused. Just around the story of Chad, the show probably has more in common with like Breaking Bad<\/em> or Barry<\/em>, but it’s like a character holding on to a lie.”<\/p>\n

Let’s hope that Powers can hold on to the lie for more than one season. The series has yet to be renewed for season 2, even though Glen Powell is already thinking of ideas for more episodes. In an interview with Variety<\/a><\/em>, he named Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift as his dream cameos for season 2. As the actor put it: “You already got me thinking about Season 2 cameos. T-Swift comin\u2019 in hot.” After the singer appeared on “<\/em>New Heights,” anything’s possible.<\/p>\n

Where Can I Watch Chad Powers<\/em>?<\/h4>\n

The first two episodes of Chad Powers <\/em>premiered on Hulu on September 30. The series will then run for a short six-episode debut season, with the remaining episodes airing weekly on Tuesdays until the finale on October 28. For a detailed release schedule, follow along below:<\/p>\n
