Billy Crudup says acting is not for the faint of heart, is teeming with rejection and can sometimes include hatred.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost immediately in acting school, there\u2019s only 20 of you there, somebody gets the great part,\u201d he told Page Six at the premiere of \u201cJay Kelly\u201d at the New York Film Festival on Monday night.<\/p>\n

The actor, 57, then went on to list all the ways rejection rears its ugly head.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot getting an agent,\u201d he explained. \u201cNot getting an audition, getting the audition, not getting the part, getting the part but being cut out of the movie, getting the part, being in the movie, nobody seeing the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crudup then added that an actor can be in the movie, and people see it, but they \u201chate you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can be nominated for an Academy Award and lose it; there\u2019s just no end to it,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Crudup explained that rejection is woven throughout an actor\u2019s life, starting in drama classes.<\/p>\n

In his new movie \u201cJay Kelly,\u201d<\/a> the Tony winner plays a longtime friend of a famous movie star (George Clooney), who hasn\u2019t achieved the same success as his pal.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, Crudup said he has never experienced this scenario.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been very lucky with the friends that I have,\u201d the \u201cAlmost Famous\u201d star shared, \u201cand the friendships that I\u2019ve formed with my colleagues. It hasn\u2019t been that kind of antagonism or resentment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Crudup\u2019s<\/span><\/div>\n

Crudup\u2019s first big movie was \u201cAlmost Famous.\u201d<\/p>\n

He can currently be seen in the Apple TV+ series, \u201cThe Morning Show.\u201d Karen Ballard<\/p>\n

However, the \u201cMorning Show\u201d star noted that he could easily see how \u201csomeone who would get some early success in their career, can lighten the load of their friendships and cut bait from some people who were important to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crudup cautioned that it\u2019s a career choice only for people who \u201creally want to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other celebs at the starry premiere, held at Film at Lincoln Center, included George Clooney, Laura Dern, Josh Hamilton, Riley Keough and Patrick Wilson.<\/p>\n

\u201cJay Kelly\u201d will receive a limited release on Nov. 14, before it moves to Netflix on Dec. 5.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
