Broadway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Oct. 5, 1925, the same year the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opry.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Grand Old Opry;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Grand Old Opry<\/a> made its first broadcast, F. All while surviving floods, fires, and financial collapse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Built by wealthy Louisville businessman, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brownhotel.com\/about-the-brown\/louisville-historic-hotel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:J. Graham Brown;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">J. Graham Brown<\/a>, owner of the adjacent <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brownhotel.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Brown Hotel;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Brown Hotel<\/a>, 335 W. Broadway, the theater was modeled after New York\u2019s famous <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.com\/broadway_tickets\/art.358716179725959168\/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22206672958&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAD_wYuAc9ZfL9yxq0uqdVao0gZ9MD&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw89jGBhB0EiwA2o1On24Liq7WxZNzCU39VanrNeE3JrMXSOJvziuBOQEWWRdh3pXRCP5n4hoC8ycQAvD_BwE\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Music Box Theatre;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Music Box Theatre<\/a>, with an ornate lobby, fan shaped seating and a 40-foot-by-40-foot stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Louisville\u2019s premier theater attracted the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of entertainment including Bette Davis, Helen Hayes, Tallulah Bankhead, Myrna Loy, Don Ameche, Henry Fonda, Edward G. Robinson, Carol Channing, Victor Borge and Gloria Swanson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cLouisville was really on the theater circuit because of the Louisville Nashville Railroad,\u201d Kim Baker, president and CEO of Kentucky Performing Arts told the Courier Journal. \u201dLouisville was one of the cities to go to for theater.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In its early years, the lavishly appointed <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kentuckyperformingarts.org\/venues\/brown-theatre\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Brown Theatre;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Brown Theatre<\/a> hosted dramatic productions and musical evenings, establishing itself as a true playhouse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When the depression hit the country and touring dried up, the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kentuckyperformingarts.org\/venues\/brown-theatre\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Brown Theater;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Brown Theater<\/a> was transformed into a movie theater where films were shown for the next 30 years.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img alt=\"The Brown Theatre, 315 W. In 1962, the theater underwent major renovation and again welcomed Broadway productions.
