File Photo by John Angelillo\/UPI<\/p>\n The sequel film, which takes its inspiration<\/a> from the video game series of the same name, makes its theater debut Oct. 24.<\/p>\n Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage, an actor recruited to save the world via his talent for fighting.<\/p>\n CJ Bloomfield, Hiroyuki Sanada, Joe Taslim, Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Damon Herriman, Josh Lawson, Chin Han and Ludi Lin also star.<\/p>\n ‘The Smashing Machine’<\/b><\/p>\n The biopic about UFC and MMA fighter Mark Kerr arrives in theaters<\/a> Oct. 3.<\/p>\n Dwayne Johnson portrays Kerr, while Emily Blunt portrays Kerr’s girlfriend.<\/p>\n The film, which debuted at the 82nd annual Venice International Film Festival, follows Kerr’s professional life and personal addiction.<\/p>\n TV shows<\/b><\/p>\n ‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’<\/b><\/p>\n The third installment of the Monster <\/i>anthology series streams on Netflix<\/a> beginning Oct. 3.<\/p>\n Charlie Hunnam will portray Gein, a serial killer whose crimes inspired<\/a> the 1960 film Psycho <\/i>and the 1991 feature The Silence of the Lambs. <\/i><\/p>\n Suzanna Son, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Vicky Krieps, Olivia Wiliams, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Charlie Hall, Will Brill, Mimi Kennedy, Robin Weigert and Lesley Manville also star.<\/p>\n ‘The Diplomat’ Season 3<\/b><\/p>\n The third chapter of the political thriller series arrives on Netflix Oct. 16.<\/p>\n Keri Russell stars as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom who, in the upcoming season, will discover “the particular nightmare that is getting what you want,” according to show creator<\/a> Deborah Hahn.<\/p>\n Allison Janney, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh also star.<\/p>\n ‘It: Welcome to Derry’<\/b><\/p>\n The prequel series inspired by the Stephen King novel It<\/i> is slated to arrive on HBO Max Oct. 26.<\/p>\n Bill Skarsgard will once again portray<\/a> an evil entity who takes the form of Pennywise the clown.<\/p>\n Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso also star.<\/p>\n ‘Loot’ Season 3 <\/b><\/p>\n The upcoming season will<\/a> arrive on Apple TV+ Oct. 15 and stars Maya Rudolph as Molly Wells.<\/p>\n The windfall from her divorce settlement sees Wells become a billionaire<\/a>, and she starts a philanthropic organization.<\/p>\n Adam Scott portrays her ex, while Nat Faxon plays her love interest.<\/p>\n Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Ron Funches, Kim Booster, Stephanie Styles, Scott D’Arcy Carden, Zane Phillips, Henry Winkler, X Mayo and Paula Pell also star.<\/p>\n Music<\/b><\/p>\n ‘Life of a Showgirl’<\/b><\/p>\n Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album arrives Oct. 3. She is also releasing<\/a> an accompanying feature, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl<\/i>, which arrives in theaters the same day and runs through Oct. 5.<\/p>\n Life of a Showgirl <\/i>features 12 tracks<\/a>, including “The Fate off Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Opalite,” “Father Figure” and “The Life of a Showgirl,” which features Sabrina Carpenter.<\/p>\n ‘Everybody Scream’<\/b><\/p>\n Florence + The Machine is due to release an album Oct. 31.<\/p>\n Florence Welch, 39, has already dropped two tracks from Everybody Scream, <\/i>which include a song of the same name as well as “One of the Greats.”<\/p>\n She is set to tour with Paris Paloma in 2026.<\/p>\n Books <\/b><\/p>\n ‘Gone Before Goodbye’<\/b><\/p>\n Actress Reese Witherspoon joins Harlan Coben on the upcoming suspense novel Gone Before Goodbye<\/i>, due Oct. 14.<\/p>\n The novel follows Maggie McCabe, an Army combat surgeon who lost her medical license and feels unmoored until she is hired to take on a job that leads her to “become a fugitive herself<\/a>.”<\/p>\n Coben’s other books include The Woods<\/i>, The Stranger<\/i> and Fool Me Once<\/i>.<\/p>\n ‘Mate’<\/b><\/p>\n Ali Hazelwood, well-known for penning The Love Hypothesis<\/i>, will return with a new book Oct. 7.<\/p>\n Mate <\/i>follows Serena, a “Human-Were hybrid” who tries to survive<\/a> the ongoing clashes among Weres, Vampyres and humans, according to an official synopsis.<\/p>\n Her safety comes in the form of Koen, who helms the Northwest pack.<\/p>\n “Nothing will stop him from keeping her safe,” the description says.<\/p>\n ‘The Intruder’<\/b><\/p>\n Freida McFadden’s new thriller is slated for an Oct. 7 release. The author is known for The Housemaid<\/i> series.<\/p>\n The plot follows Casey, who lives in a remote cabin and encounters a girl “lurking outside her kitchen window.”<\/p>\n “The girl won’t explain where she came from, or loosen her grip on the knife in her right hand,” an official synopsis reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n ‘Dead and Alive’<\/b><\/p>\n Zadie Smith’s essay collection arrives Oct. 28.<\/p>\n The book includes her reflections on artists and writers, New York and politics.<\/p>\n “Smith shows us once again her unrivaled ability to think through critically and humanely some of the most urgent preoccupations and tendencies of our troubled times,” an official description reads.<\/a><\/p>\n Video games<\/b><\/p>\n ‘Ghost of Yotei’<\/b><\/p>\n The open-world samurai game arrives on PlayStation 5 Oct. 2.<\/p>\n The game follows<\/a> Atsu, who seeks to avenge her family’s death, following their murder by the Yotei Six. Ghost of Yotei <\/i>is the sequel to the game Ghost of Tsushima, <\/i>which arrived in 2020.<\/p>\n ‘Pokemon Legends: Z-A’<\/b><\/p>\n The new entry in the beloved Pokemon franchise arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 16.<\/p>\n According to an official synopsis<\/a>, the release will see “an RPG story unfolding in a single city with action elements and a real-time battle system.”<\/p>\n ‘Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted’<\/b><\/p>\n The remastered version of popular game Plants vs. Zombies<\/i> arrives Oct. 23.<\/p>\n “This new PvZ experience is a tribute to the classics,” an official synopsis reads.<\/a> “The same charm, chaos and sun-powered defense you know and love. Whether you grew up with Peashooters or just met Crazy Dave, this one’s for the fans.”<\/p>\n Broadway Shows<\/b><\/p>\n ‘Just in Time’<\/b><\/p>\n Sarah Hyland, best known for her role in Modern Family, <\/i>joins the cast of Just in Time <\/i>beginning Oct. 8, replacing Gracie Lawrence.<\/p>\n Sadie Dickerson is portraying Sandra Dee, while Jonathan Groff continues his role as Bobby Darin.<\/p>\n The show explores<\/a> Darin’s personal and professional life.<\/p>\n ‘Romy and Michele: The Musical’<\/b><\/p>\n The Off-Broadway adaptation opens Oct. 28, with reviews starting Oct. 14.<\/p>\n Laura Bell Bundy and Kara Lindsay will portray the iconic duo, played by Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino in the 1997 film.<\/p>\n “When Romy and Michele are invited to their 10-year reunion, they hatch an outrageous scheme to re-invent themselves and impress their former classmates,” an official synopsis reads.<\/a><\/p>\n ‘Chess’<\/b><\/p>\n The revival opens Nov. 16, but previews start Oct. 15.<\/p>\n Aaron Tveit, Lea Michele and Nicholas Christopher star.<\/p>\n The show, which originally opened in 1988, follows a World Chess Championship “where the espionage and romance are as complicated and exhilarating as the game itself,” according to an official description<\/a>.<\/p>\n Las Vegas residencies <\/b><\/p>\n ‘Eagles — Live in Concert’<\/b><\/p>\n The Eagles are set to continue<\/a> their residency at the Las Vegas Sphere with a set of October shows.<\/p>\n The band, known for “Hotel California” and “Take It Easy,” will perform Oct. 3, 4, 10, 11 and 31. The shows wrap in November.<\/p>\n ‘Kelly Clarkson — Studio Sessions’<\/b><\/p>\n The American Idol <\/i>alum, singer, talk show host and Voice<\/i> coach will perform at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas through Nov. 15.<\/p>\n The “Since You’ve Been Gone” and “Because of You” singer initially had postponed her shows<\/a> in July due to vocal issues, and then canceled her August shows as her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, battled cancer.<\/p>\n ‘Rod Stewart — The Encore Shows’<\/b><\/p>\n Stewart, known for his hits “Maggie May” and “Young Turks,” is set to take to the Caesars Palace stage Oct. 1 to 11.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
