Music producer Gregg Wattenberg is working with singer, songwriter and musician Izzy Escobar on an acoustic version of the song they wrote called \u201cVendetta.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want this process to be just someone telling me \u2018oh this is great,\u2019 I wanted someone to say \u2018we need to make this incredible,\u2019 you know, \u2018the best pop record we can make\u2019 and Gregg really pushed me and allowed me to improve as an artist, a person and a musician,\u201d said Escobar, whose songs have millions of plays on Spotify.<\/p>\n
The collaboration is all part of the magic happening daily at Artist House, a new 20,000 square foot facility in Hudson Square. The complex includes 10 recording studios, intended as a gathering place for all the music makers of the city.<\/p>\n
The space was co-founded by Wattenberg and another record industry veteran, Steve Lerner, as a throwback to the days when there were many creative music hubs around \u2014 places like Motown, Muscle Shoals, the Brill Building and Atlantic Studios.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, the most exciting thing is providing a community for the artists, for the creators, for the marketers, to really come together, to find the ways to really explore and grow a career,\u201d Lerner said.<\/p>\n
The two-story space and roof deck complex is also headquarters for Artist House\u2019s own record, publishing and management companies. Wattenberg, who has produced and\/or written songs for Five for Fighting, Goo Goo Dolls, Train and John Legend, says he hopes artists will see each other in the hallways here, and that will lead to collaborations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we just have to say, if we are all here, and this doesn\u2019t really exist in New York, I think we can pull in all the best people and I think we will have artists at the A-level come in to make records and others just starting out,\u201d said Wattenberg, who added that the possibilities of what can happen from that are pretty exciting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
