It\u2019s a bumper day for new music services and artist-focused platforms, with three to tell you about.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tapedeck<\/a>\u00a0is the first: a downloads and streaming service promising artists 80% of its revenues; an algorithm \u201cthat prioritises new music over tunes you\u2019ve already heard\u201d; and a pay-per-play model that includes ads and partner offers to get free plays. It\u2019s been launched by mobile content firm Zedge, and is overseen by Tim Quirk \u2013 a music artist who has also held senior roles in Rhapsody and Google\u2019s music businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s second new platform is UK-based\u00a0Stradebase<\/a>, which is the latest attempt to popularise fractional ownership of music royalties by fans. Artists can sell royalty shares represented as digital trading cards within Stradebase\u2019s app, adding perks from merch to early ticket access. Grime artists Skepta, JME, Wretch 32 and Jammer are early adopters, as well as Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Finally today,\u00a0AuroMasters<\/a>\u00a0is a new hi-res \/ spatial music service using its own Auto-3D format. It uses a credits-based system for listening, and like Tapedeck is offering an 80% rev-share to artists. The startup said its catalogue is \u201ccarefully curated but very modest\u201d at launch, but added that it is \u201cworking with many artists from both major and independent labels to expand rapidly\u201d.<\/p>\n
