Kate Gosselin is detailing the events that led to her being hospitalized with a \u201clife-altering\u201d injury.<\/p>\n
The \u201cJon & Kate Plus 8\u2033 star said one of her dogs caused the injury in a live video from her hospital bed that was recorded and later uploaded to TikTok<\/a> on Tuesday, Sept. 30.<\/p>\n \u201cMeika, my puppy, ran into me full-speed ahead and I ended up with a tibial plateau fracture and surgery with plates and pins in my leg,\u201d Gosselin, 50, said in the video.<\/p>\n She later told viewers that her surgeon said, \u201cThis is one of those things that is a life-altering event.\u201d <\/p>\n A tibial plateau fracture is a break in the upper surface of the tibia, or shinbone, that forms part of the knee joint. Physiopedia\u2019s website<\/a> indicates that the tibial plateau \u201cis one of the most critical load-bearing areas in the human body.\u201d<\/p>\n Gosselin detailed how she was using an \u201cice machine,\u201d referring to a cold therapy system or cryotherapy, per OrthoBracing.com<\/a>, to relieve the pain.<\/p>\n \u201cI have an ice machine, and, let me tell you, I love it,\u201d Gosselin said in the clip. \u201cI\u2019d say my insurance bought it but, let\u2019s be honest, I probably bought it. They\u2019re sending me home with the ice thing.\u201d<\/p>\n Gosselin\u2019s explanation came after she posted a TikTok<\/a> of her arm with an IV attached to it and the caption, \u201cPlease pray for me tonight and tomorrow? I\u2019d really appreciate it! Don\u2019t worry, story time to follow when I\u2019m able! Love you guys!
