It\u2019s an office romance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Office\u201d spinoff show \u201cThe Paper,\u201d now streaming on Peacock (and airing on NBC in November), has its own version of the epic Jim and Pam relationship.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI think of Jim and Pam as the most iconic couple I\u2019ve ever seen on TV, so it\u2019s scary to be compared to that,\u201d Chelsea Frei, who stars in \u201cThe Paper,\u201d exclusively told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frei said that she was a huge \u201cdiehard fan\u201d of \u201cThe Office\u201d before landing a role on \u201cThe Paper.\u201d <\/p>\n

Frei, 32,\u00a0was talking to The Post to promote \u201cThe Office\u201d and \u201cThe Paper\u201d exhibition at The Paley Museum<\/a> in Manhattan, which is currently up and running through Sunday, November 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The exhibit has props and costumes from the beloved mockumentary, which ran on NBC from 2005 to 2013, in honor of 20 years since it first premiered.\u00a0There are also some costumes from \u201cThe Paper.\u201d <\/p>\n

On \u201cThe Office,\u201d Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) were the long-running couple, eventually ending up together after many false starts and \u201cwill they or won\u2019t they\u201d tension across several seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Paper\u201d follows a new cast of characters working at an Ohio newspaper.<\/p>\n

The main romance is between editor Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) and reporter Mare (Frei), who share a kiss in the Season 1 finale, after just nine episodes \u2014 much faster than Jim and Pam, whose romantic sparks ignite in \u201cThe Office\u201d Season 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think the difference with Ned and Mare is\u2026. both love making this newspaper,\u201d Frei explained, referring to their investment in their job.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think whatever the romantic love story might be between them, it\u2019s more the love story that they both have with this paper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some worried that Ned and Mare were getting together too fast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked about it a lot. It went so many different ways. And what ended up being in the finale, I don\u2019t think any of us thought would happen that fast. You kind of just go where the story tells you. So when it started feeling like, \u2018oh, maybe something\u2019s going to happen\u2019 by the finale, we just kind of went for it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s interesting seeing what people have to say about it, and how people have their own thoughts, and that\u2019s really exciting. We love making a conversation in any sort of way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
