After Melissa Barrera was fired and Jenna Ortega dropped the project due to political reasons, director Christopher Landon also left the movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original, along with Scream 2 and Scream 4, took over as director and is bringing back a lot of familiar faces. It has now been confirmed by Paramount that Scream 7 will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026. They also revealed the first logo for the movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There is not too much to go on with the logo. The font is still the same, but it is interesting that there&#8217;s a knife slash through the Scream name. It remains to be seen if that&#8217;ll have any significance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Williamson and company have stayed very tight-lipped about the movie outside of revealing the return of Matthew Lillard, among other franchise favorites.
