HONOLULU (KHON2) \u2014 Taylor Swift\u2019s latest release, Life of a Showgirl, arrives Friday, Oct. 3, with sparkle, scent and a surprise drop that caught even record stores off guard.<\/p>\n
Jim Williams, manager of Hungry Ear Records in Kaka\u02bbako, said his store is ready for the rush.<\/p>\n
Taylor Swift is coming to Hawai\u02bbi\u2019s Consolidated Theaters! <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward this Friday to the new Taylor Swift album coming out,\u201d Williams said. \u201cLife of a Showgirl, available Friday at Hungry Ear, only at independent stores and also on her website only.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans can find an exclusive version of the vinyl album at Hungry Ear. The special edition features a glittery Portofino orange design and comes scented with notes of sweat and vanilla.<\/p>\n \u201cSo that\u2019s something for collectors,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n The exclusivity is part of the buzz. This version of Life of a Showgirl won\u2019t be sold at big-box stores or other retailers.<\/p>\n Get Hawaii\u2019s latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou can only get that at independent record stores like Hungry Ear and also on her website,\u201d Williams said. \u201cAny other stores where you might go to get it, you won\u2019t get this specific version.\u201d<\/p>\n For those who prefer CDs, the store will carry them too. \u201cWe\u2019ll also have the CD available as well, which will have an exclusive poster within it,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n The album rollout was kept tightly under wraps. Even stores had little notice before receiving their shipments.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a last minute, even for the stores themselves,\u201d Williams said. \u201cOur orders, there\u2019s a real tight time frame on getting the album into the stores. She works pretty secretively.\u201d<\/p>\n Hungry Ear opens daily at 10 a.m.; and for this release, it\u2019s first come, first served.<\/p>\n \u201cWe open at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day,\u201d Williams said. \u201cJust come on by.
