Across my career doing the rounds at all the big international fashion weeks (and many of the smaller ones too), I\u2019ve been in the room with a lot of megastars who\u2019ve left me starstruck \u2013 from Debbie Harry<\/a> at Gucci<\/a>, Kyle MacLachlan<\/a> at Prada<\/a>, Busta Rhymes at Louis Vuitton<\/a>, and Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> at Tommy Hilfiger<\/a>, to Damon Albarn<\/a> and <\/span>Ab Fab <\/span><\/em>duo Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders just last week at Burberry<\/a>. But the person who took the crown in terms of sending me into a tailspin \u2013\u00a0at least on the inside \u2013 is Robyn<\/a>, who showed up to Jonathan Anderson<\/a>\u2019s SS24 Loewe<\/a> show.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s a universally accepted fact that the Swedish musician is an international treasure who must be protected at all costs. Who hasn\u2019t had a complete breakdown to \u201cWith Every Heartbeat\u201d, or felt the surge of bittersweet euphoria running through their veins as sad banger \u201cDancing On My Own\u201d kicks in? There are few musicians that have been able to invoke the <\/span>sm\u00f6rg\u00e5sbord <\/span>of emotions that Robyn has across the course of her three-decade-long career. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n Sadly, it\u2019s been a while since we\u2019ve had new music from Robyn, with 2018\u2019s <\/span>Honey<\/span><\/em> her last outing beyond a couple of guest appearances on tracks by Jamie xx<\/a> and Charli xcx<\/a>. At least, that is until today, when Robyn gave us a sneak preview of material she\u2019s been working on as part of Acne Studios\u2019 SS26<\/a> runway show, for which founder Jonny Johansson roped her in to create the soundtrack (the two have long been friends, with Johansson citing the musician as something of a muse for the house).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Robyn\u2019s music has always looked to the future, and she\u2019s long demonstrated an obsession with robots \u2013 take \u201cFembot\u201d, for example, in which she explores the ideas of entering her 30s and wondering whether or not to have kids \u2013 and for Acne, she remixes and refreshes \u201cRobotboy\u201d. This time, she\u2019s joined on the track by longtime collaborator and fellow friend of the house yung lean<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWhen Jonatan (yung lean) sings \u201cRobotboy, it\u2019s like he is singing to himself, serenading an old version of himself\u201d \u2013 Robyn<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n Robyn calls lean \u2013 real name <\/span>Jonatan Leandoer H\u00e5stad \u2013\u201da kindred spirit\u201d and explains that \u201cthe song feels like it was made for him, not me.\u201d \u201cWhen Jonatan sings \u201cRobotboy, it\u2019s like he is singing to himself, serenading an old version of himself\u201d she says. \u201cWhereas when I sing it, it\u2019s like I\u2019m singing to a brother or a lover. I was excited to hear his version.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n The musician didn\u2019t have the opportunity to see the collection ahead of putting together the soundtrack but says there was a synergy there regardless. \u201cThere was an unexpected dialogue between the music and the clothes that I just didn\u2019t see coming,\u201d she says. \u201cI hadn\u2019t seen them, and Acne hadn\u2019t heard the music beforehand, but they both question and celebrate the typical idea of female identity. It was fun and interesting to hear my lyrics in this context.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But the most important question: when, exactly, is the new album coming?
