While it\u2019s been a bit radio silent for a while, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/movies\/articles\/keira-knightley-shares-disappointing-pirates-152801397.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Keira Knightley\u2019s own Pirates update;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Keira Knightley\u2019s own <em>Pirates<\/em> update<\/a> may have been a sign of things to come. Though we may never see Elizabeth Swann again, the series still lives in active development &#8211; per new comments from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\"><strong>Pirates 6 Is Still Being Written<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Catching up with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/jerry-bruckheimer-pirates-6-top-gun-3-national-treasure-3-updates-the-grill-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:TheWrap;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">TheWrap<\/a> at its annual conference TheGrill, the legendary Hollywood talent was asked about some of his still brewing legacy-quels in the House of Mouse. If we don\u2019t have it on the page, it\u2019s not gonna get on the screen. \u2026 [Ted Elliott] worked on it, and we\u2019ve brought someone else in to fill in the blanks.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Having a script in the works is <em>always<\/em> a good sign that your studio is still willing to put money into your idea. However, fans still had their hopes up for a direct sequel to 2017\u2019s <em>Dead Men Tell No Tales<\/em>, with Captain Jack at the helm &#8211; which saw a bit of a bake off take place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The competing story was one that followed a female pirate captain, which saw both Karen Gillan and Margot Robbie teased as highly likely candidates. Which leads to Jerry Bruckheimer seeming to have announced the result of that competition, thusly:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>\u201cWe had two scripts at one point, and then one kind of dropped out and we kind of went with the other one. [Margot]\u2019s still involved.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There you have it, Mouseketeers! We might see Margot Robbie having an adventure on the high seas after all, bringing the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> franchise along with her.
