Lamb of God<\/a> have released a new standalone single called \u201cSepsis.\u201d<\/p>\n Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, the three-and-a-half minute track is swinging slab of sludge metal \u2014 sludgier than Lamb of God usually get. Frontman Randy Blythe digs into his lowest register for bellowed growls, and aside from a brief blasty bit, the band are content to ride the bruising, slower tempo.<\/p>\n Get Lamb of God Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n Lyrically, the track references and pays homage to the underground scene in the band\u2019s hometown of Richmond, Virginia, while the Gianfranco Svagelj-directed video accompanies lo-fi performance footage with clips of Richmond\u2019s underbelly.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2019Sepsis\u2019 is a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest,\u201d guitarist Mark Morton said in a press release. \u201cBands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger\u2014though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time. The song references that stuff in a way that\u2019s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.\u201d<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the single \u2014 the band\u2019s first since a 2024 collab with Mastodon<\/a> \u2014 arrives a day before Lamb of God\u2019s appearance on Friday at Aftershock<\/a> in Sacramento, California. After that, they\u2019ll headline the Armored MMA Championship Fest on October 18th in Canton, Ohio, before hosting their annual Headbangers Boat cruise<\/a>, which sets sail from Miami on October 31st.
