Prince William is giving raw insight into how Kate Middleton\u2019s 2024 cancer diagnosis affected him.<\/p>\n
The Prince of Wales, 43,\u00a0<\/a>spoke out about his wife\u2019s health battle with\u00a0Eugene Levy<\/a>\u00a0for the actor\u2019s Apple TV+ series,\u00a0\u201cThe Reluctant Traveler.\u201d<\/p>\n A clip from the upcoming episode, titled \u201cLiving the Royal Life in the UK,\u201d shows the future king and the \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d star, 78, discussing how life can change in the blink of an eye.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve been very lucky; we hadn\u2019t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time. My grandparents lived until they were in the high nineties,\u201d Prince William explained, referencing the late\u00a0Queen Elizabeth\u00a0and\u00a0Prince Philip.<\/p>\n \u201cThey were the vision of fitness, and stoicism, and resilience, if you like. So we\u2019ve been very lucky as a family,\u201d the heir to the throne continued. \u201cBut I think, when you suddenly realize that the rug, if you were, the metaphorical rug, can be pulled from under your feet quite quick at any point.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou maybe think to yourself, \u2018It won\u2019t happen to us, we\u2019ll be okay.\u2019 Because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you\u2019ve got to be positive,\u201d William said. \u201cBut when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not great places.\u201d<\/p>\n Elsewhere in the episode, during Prince William and Levy\u2019s walk around the grounds of Windsor Castle, the royal teased, \u201cWe provide this service for everyone. We do personalized tours everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n After the actor inquired what William does in his free time, he replied, \u201cSleep.\u201d<\/p>\n William added, \u201cWhen you have three small children, sleep is an important part of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n While sitting down for a pint at a local pub, Levy and Prince William also touched on the last few years.<\/p>\n In addition to Middleton, 43, his father,\u00a0King Charles, was also diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d say \u201823-\u201924 was the hardest year I\u2019ve ever had,\u201d the prince shared. \u201cYou know, life is sent to test us and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n In March 2024, the Princess of Wales revealed she was\u00a0being\u00a0<\/a>treated\u00a0for cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n While undergoing chemotherapy, the philanthropist, who shares kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with William, stayed under the radar.<\/p>\n In Sept. 2024, the princess\u00a0announced she was cancer-free<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAs the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,\u201d Middleton penned at the time. \u201cThe last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.\u00a0Life as you know\u00a0it\u00a0can change\u00a0in an instant\u00a0and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and\u00a0road unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n In Jan. 2025, Princess Kate called remission \u201ca relief.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAs anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,\u201d she added. \u201cI am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.\u201d<\/p>\n King Charles, 76, meanwhile, was\u00a0diagnosed with cancer<\/a>\u00a0in Feb. 2024 and has continued to undergo treatment.<\/p>\n In April, the monarch thanked \u201call those who support cancer patients and their loved ones\u201d in a\u00a0personal message<\/a>.<\/p>\n He\u00a0posted on the royal family\u2019s website<\/a>\u00a0that being \u201camong\u201d the \u201cstatistics\u201d of those diagnosed with cancer has \u201creinforced\u201d his view that \u201cthe darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion.\u201d<\/p>\n In\u00a0Nov. 2024, while in South Africa,\u00a0William made a rare comment to reporters<\/a>\u00a0following his\u00a0annual Earthshot Prize Ceremony<\/a>\u00a0and revealed: \u201cIt\u2019s been dreadful. It\u2019s probably been the hardest year in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
