Taylor Swift is set to dominate music streams and movie screens\u00a0alike on Friday with the release of her 12th studio album, The\u00a0Life of a Showgirl<\/em>,\u00a0and a theatrical release party event premiering across the country.<\/p>\n Showgirl <\/em>is\u00a0her hotly anticipated follow-up to last year’s The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> and her absurdly\u00a0successful Eras concert tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n The album drops at midnight, and like everything the 35-year-old singer-songwriter-magnate does, it’s an\u00a0event orchestrated\u00a0by Swift herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n Here’s what you can expect for\u00a0The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n Swift promised<\/a> this album would be full of “infectious” melodies and\u00a0“vivid but crisp” lyrics.<\/p>\n “There’s [going to be] a joy in The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> that we have wanted to see from Taylor for years,”\u00a0said Liz Duff, the Toronto-based host of the pop culture podcast Late Night Scrolling Canada<\/em>, alluding to Swift’s hints about the tone of her new songs.\u00a0<\/p>\n Duff explained that past Swift albums have delved into more serious subject matter, like breakups, self-worth and the pressure of being in the music business and advocating for herself.<\/p>\n With The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, Duff\u00a0says\u00a0it feels like Swift is “stepping into a lane that is about owning accomplishments.”<\/p>\n The track list includes 12 songs:\u00a0<\/p>\n Swift also reunited\u00a0with Swedish super-producers Max Martin and Shellback, in\u00a0what Duff calls the “most exciting pop collaboration of 2025.”\u00a0<\/p>\n The duo has\u00a0worked on some of her biggest pop hits, including Blank Space<\/em> and We Are Never Getting Back Together.<\/em><\/p>\n Taylor Swift announces new album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Superstar Taylor Swift on Tuesday announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Smith says what is “putting fire under this album launch” is that the\u00a0rollout has been different from anything Swift has done before.\u00a0<\/p>\n Swift broke the news of the album on Aug. 12<\/a>, revealing it on the New Heights<\/em> podcast co-hosted by the love of her life, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his fellow NFLer\u00a0and brother Jason.<\/p>\n Two\u00a0weeks later, she broke the internet\u00a0with her announcement that she and Kelce were engaged.<\/p>\n Now that the big day is here \u2014 the\u00a0release, not the wedding \u2014 fans can expect to listen to the album\u00a0at the stroke of midnight on streaming platforms Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.\u00a0<\/p>\n Then there’s\u00a0The Official Release Party of a Showgirl<\/em>\u00a0screening in theatres across Canada and the U.S. beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n Swift’s\u00a089-minute “soir\u00e9e”\u00a0\u2014 not a movie,\u00a0documentary or\u00a0concert film\u00a0\u2014 is only in theatres from Friday through\u00a0Sunday.
