I won&#8217;t get into the extent of the political machine here, but let&#8217;s just say that renaming the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.military.com\/daily-news\/2025\/06\/03\/hegseth-orders-navy-strip-name-of-gay-rights-icon-harvey-milk-ship.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:USS Harvey Milk;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">USS Harvey Milk<\/a> in an effort to erase the history of the civil rights leader and military veteran Harvel Milk is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to government attacks on the queer community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Back in the day, the mantra of gay activists was, &#8220;We&#8217;re here, we&#8217;re queer, get used to it.&#8221; Movies like But I&#8217;m a Cheerleader and To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar, and TV shows like Will &amp; Grace did a tremendous job in getting mainstream audiences to realize that the queer community was just as normal as any other community of people, just looking for love and trying to break even.
