Danny L Harle<\/a> is cooking something up. In July, he released the PinkPantheress<\/a> collaboration \u201cStarlight<\/a>,\u201d his first song for new label home XL Recordings and his first new music since his 2021 debut album Harlecore<\/em>. Now he\u2019s back with more new music. This time, he has a new partner, as Caroline Polachek<\/a> joins on \u201cAzimuth.\u201d<\/p>\n The song is a reunion as Harle co-produced the majority of the songs on Polachek\u2019s two latest albums, 2019\u2019s Pang<\/em> and 2023\u2019s Desire, I Want To Turn Into You<\/em>.<\/p>\n Harle says of the song:<\/p>\n \u201c\u2018Azimuth\u2019 felt like the finalisation of an approach that Caroline and I had been orbiting for some time as a way of putting her voice into my music \u2014 I sometimes call it the \u2018trance siren.\u2019 You can hear manifestations of it in tracks like \u2018Insomnia\u2019 from Pang<\/em> and \u2018On The Beach\u2019 from Death Stranding 2<\/em>, but this was the first time I managed to translate it into my style of dance music. \u2018Azimuth\u2019s melody could only have been sung by Caroline, it is designed around her voice, I couldn\u2019t imagine anyone else singing it or giving a performance like that. It also allowed us to play with scale, space and quietness in a way I\u2019ve never done before.
