As he awaits to be sentenced, Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs is asking the judge on his case for mercy.<\/p>\n

In the four-page letter<\/a> sent to Judge Arun Subramanian on Oct. 2, Combs wrote that he is sorry for the “hurt and pain” he has caused others due to his conduct, stating that he has been forced to “look in the mirror” over the past 13 months. That includes Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend.<\/p>\n

“I have to admit, my downfall was rooted in my selfishness,” he wrote. “The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”<\/p>\n

He also said he was sorry about how his behavior impacted a victim who testified under the pseudonym \u201cJane.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Your honor, I thought I was providing for Jane concerning her and her child, but after hearing her testimony, I realized that I hurt her,” Combs wrote. “For this I am deeply sorry.”<\/p>\n

Combs wrote that he was “lost in the drugs and the excess” and that his downfall was rooted in “selfishness.”<\/p>\n

“I have been humbled and broken to my core,” he said. “Jail is designed to break you mentally, physically and spiritually. Over the past year there have been so many times that I wanted to give up. There have been some days I thought I would be better off dead. The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you \u2014 I choose to live.”<\/p>\n

Combs noted that the judge may be inclined to “make an example” out of him in court. “I would ask Your Honor to make me an example of what a person can do if afforded a second chance,” Combs wrote. “If you allow me to go home to my family, I promise I will not let you down and I will make you proud.”<\/p>\n

Combs is set to be sentenced on Friday morning after being convicted of transporting women<\/a> to participate in drug-fueled sex marathons.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old hip-hop mogul, who is being held without bail, is due to appear in federal district court in Manhattan at 10 a.m. before Judge Subramanian for his sentencing. According to his lawyers, Combs is expected to speak at the hearing.<\/p>\n

Combs faces a maximum of 20 years in prison. In July, after an eight-week trial, a jury found Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution related to Ventura and \u201cJane.\u201d Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n

But the Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, which could have landed him in prison for life.<\/p>\n

Combs pumped his fist and fell to his knees in court<\/a> after the mixed verdict was read.<\/p>\n
