Taylor Swift<\/a> has released her new album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em><\/a>, and on the track \u201cActually Romantic,\u201d she seemingly takes aim at Charli XCX<\/a>.<\/p>\n The origins of their apparent \u201cbeef\u201d began last year when Charli XCX released her acclaimed album Brat<\/em><\/a>, which featured the song \u201cSympathy is a knife.\u201d While not explicitly referencing Swift (or really a \u201cdiss track,\u201d at that), the song captures Charli XCX expressing her anxiety towards an unnamed woman, singing \u201cThis one girl taps my insecurities\u201d and later \u201cDon\u2019t want to see her backstage at my boyfriend\u2019s show\/ Fingers crossed behind my back, I hope they break up quick.\u201d The latter line particularly signals a reference to Swift: Charli\u2019s now-husband is The 1975\u2019s George Daniel, and Swift and 1975 singer Matty Healy were rumored to be dating back in 2023.<\/p>\n Now, on \u201cActually Romantic,\u201d Swift has seemingly responded: \u201cI heard you call me \u2018Boring Barbie\u2019 when the coke\u2019s got you brave \/ High-fived my ex and then you said you\u2019re glad he ghosted me\u201d go the first lines of the song, likely referencing Charli and Healy\u2019s friendship with \u201chigh-fived my ex.\u201d Swift continues, singing \u201cYou wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face\/ Some people might be offended\/ But it\u2019s actually sweet.\u201d<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n She proceeds, likening the perceived slander to positive attention: \u201cReally got to hand it to you\/ No man has ever loved me like you do\/ It\u2019s actually romantic,\u201d goes the chorus, with the latter line and title a likely reference to Charli\u2019s Brat<\/em> track \u201cEverything is romantic.\u201d Swift even takes it to a whole new level when she busts out the line \u201cIt\u2019s kind of making me wet.\u201d Okay!
