The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> has some of the big drums and plenty of the big hooks of this trio\u2019s extended collaboration a decade earlier, but the songwriting and sonic palette are both updated for the mid-2020s, with many tracks based around an organic-skewing pop-rock sound more reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac than Forever Your Girl<\/em>. Plenty of its songs<\/a> seem destined to impact on a similar scale though: \u201cActually Romantic\u201d and \u201cWood\u201d will be the headline-grabbers for their provocative subject matters, but \u201cRuin the Friendship\u201d and \u201cEldest Daughter\u201d may end up the fan favorites for their personal lyrics and wistful melodies. <\/p>\n \n\tLuke Combs, \u201cDays Like These\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWhen the sky is blue\/ And the grass is green\/ How much better can it be?\u201d Luke Combs <\/a>has always had a knack for expressing simple lyrical sentiments as profound truths \u2014\u00a0particularly when he relies on the power of his voice to carry the song, rather than dulling it with radio-ready overproduction. \u201cDays Like These\u201d features just Combs and an acoustic guitar singing this ode to the core pleasures that make up life \u2014 and you can bet country radio will still find it absolutely undeniable. <\/p>\n \n\tLeon Thomas, \u201cJust How You Are\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tDespite the title\u2019s similarity to classic pop love songs from Billy Joel and Bruno Mars, don\u2019t expect Leon Thomas <\/a>in a sentimental mood on his new single. \u201cI wrote all these songs about you\/ And you never even said a word\/ Not even just to say you heard\/ I guess \u2018congrats\u2019 is your least favorite word,\u201d the R&B singer-songwriter seethes over an airtight soul-funk groove. The wedding ballads can wait; this nasty jam should still get the dancefloor packed in the meantime. <\/p>\n \n\tLouis Tomlinson, \u201cLemonade\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tWe haven\u2019t heard much from Louis Tomlinson <\/a>since 2022\u2019s Fate in the Future<\/em>, but in September he announced he\u2019d be back with the full-length How Did I Get Here?<\/em> in January 2026. The first taste of that record was delivered this week with lead single \u201cLemonade,\u201d in which Tomlinson does his best Adam Lambert strut over a muscular disco-rock bounce. No one\u2019s going to be bringing the chorus (\u201cShe\u2019s so bitter\/ She\u2019s so sweet\/ Lemonade\u201d) into Language Arts class anytime soon, but there\u2019s never been a song called \u201cLemonade\u201d that wasn\u2019t mostly irresistible, and this one is no exception. <\/p>\n \n\tKali Uchis feat. Mariah the Scientist, \u201cPretty Promises\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tAfter teaming up for one of the year\u2019s most sublime collabs with \u201cIs It a Crime?\u201d from Mariah the Scientist<\/a>\u2018s Hearts Sold Separately<\/em> album, it\u2019s time for Kali Uchis<\/a> to play host on the deluxe edition of her 2024 LP Sincerely<\/em>, entitled Sincerely: P.S.<\/em> The two reconvene for the equally lovely \u201cPretty Promises,\u201d as the two swear that their word is bond over an underwater groove that they swim around like mermaids.
