Taylor Swift has officially released her highly anticipated 12th studio album, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl,\u201d and the record is full of low-key references and maybe not-so-subtle nods to her football star fianc\u00e9, Travis Kelce.<\/p>\n
The 14-time Grammy winner announced her new album<\/a> during an appearance on Kelce\u2019s \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast on Aug. 13, days before sharing their exciting engagement news<\/a> with the world on Aug. 26.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is my brand new album,\u201d Swift, 35, said before unveiling \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d and its orange-green color scheme.<\/p>\n \u201cIt just comes from, like, the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic, place I was in, in my life,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd so that effervescence has come through on this record \u2026 this is the record I\u2019ve been wanting to make for a really long time.\u201d<\/p>\n As for the album\u2019s 12-song tracklist, Swift shared that \u201cevery single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou couldn\u2019t take one out and it be the same album, you couldn\u2019t add one; it\u2019s just right,\u201d she said. \u201cThat focus, and that kind of discipline with creating an album and keeping the bar really high is something I\u2019ve wanted to do for a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n One thing the pop superstar didn\u2019t reveal at the time, however, was how many of the new songs were about her Kansas City Chiefs beau.<\/p>\n Here are all the times Taylor Swift appears to mention Travis Kelce in her new album \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d kicks off with a reference to William Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cHamlet\u201d and the character Ophelia, who falls into a state of madness and tragically drowns to death by the play\u2019s end.<\/p>\n But despite the serious tone and topic of the opening track, Swift appears to sneak in a few nods to her husband-to-be and his professional football career throughout the lengthy \u201cFate of Ophelia.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI heard you calling on the megaphone \/ You want to see me all alone,\u201d Swift begins the song, possibly referencing not just a football megaphone but also the fact that Kelce first asked her out by launching a public call on his \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n Another nod comes later in the track when Swift sings \u201cKeep it 100,\u201d which Kelce wrote in his first-ever Instagram post<\/a> with the singer back in July.<\/p>\n \u201cKeep it one hundr\u0435d on the land, the sea, th\u0435 sky,\u201d the singer recites. \u201cPledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat view of Portofino was on my mind \/ when you called me at the Plaza Ath\u00e9n\u00e9e\u201d<\/p>\n Many fans believe Swift\u2019s new track \u201cElizabeth Taylor\u201d mentions her and Kelce\u2019s visit to Paris during an Eras Tour stop in France last summer.<\/p>\n Although the pair did not stay at the Plaza Ath\u00e9n\u00e9e, they did reportedly stay just a few blocks away at the H\u00f4tel De Crillon.<\/p>\n The couple later vacationed in Italy, and although they stayed in Lake Como, it\u2019s possible Swift thought of her groom-to-be while passing through Portofino during the European leg of her tour.<\/p>\n \u201cAll the right guys promised they\u2019d stay \/ Under bright lights, they withered away, but you bloom\u201d<\/p>\n This line, again from the second track of the singer\u2019s fresh new album, appears to allude to the \u201cbright lights\u201d of a sports stadium.<\/p>\n\u2018The Fate of Ophelia\u2019<\/h2>\n
