Words by Reagan Denning<\/strong> \/\/ Photos by Sarah Peter<\/strong><\/p>\n jxdn <\/a><\/strong>delivered an electrifying performance Sunday night in Washington D.C. <\/strong>for his highly anticipated \u2018WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS TOUR.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>Known for his raw energy and powerful vocals, he brought a show that was heartfelt and intense, leaving fans completely in awe. jxdn\u2019s setlist was a perfect blend of popular breakout hits as well as new songs from his latest release, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS.<\/em><\/p>\n GUNNAR <\/strong>and L\u00d8L\u00d8<\/strong> understood the assignment and warmed up the crowd with their infectious energy and compelling stage presence. Both artists brought their unique styles to the iconic 930 Club and won over the audience by ensuring that the start of the night was filled with excitement over what was to come. GUNNAR opened first, immediately getting fans moving with a cover of \u201cAre You Gonna Be My Girl\u201d by\u00a0Jet<\/strong>, as well as his newest single \u201cDirty Blonde,\u201d and a number of his other hits like \u201cThey Didn\u2019t Tell Me,\u201d and \u201cBad Idea.\u201d L\u00d8L\u00d8 took the stage next, maintaining the high energy with a number of her own hit tracks including \u201chot girls in hell\u201d and \u201cdebbie downer,\u201d as well as a cover of \u201cI Love It\u201d by Icona Pop\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Charli XCX.<\/strong> Her debut album,\u00a0falling for robots & wishing i was one<\/em>, is now out on all streaming platforms.<\/p>\n jxdn burst onto the stage in a flurry of movement while being greeted with thunderous applause and cheering from his adoring fans. Against bright strobing lights and a cool reflective backdrop that read \u201cYou Are Music,\u201d his sincere performance was nothing short of spectacular as he showed off his commanding stage presence, powerful vocals, and unique artistic vision. He was accompanied by an incredible band, consisting of Tosh, Kenji<\/strong>, and Marton<\/strong>, that matched his high energy throughout the night by showcasing their intricate musical skills during each song. The singer got the crowd fired up immediately with the hit single \u201cSTRAY\u201d followed by \u201cCANDLES,\u201d both from his recent sophomore album, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhen I\u2019m performing, if you can\u2019t tell, I\u2019m not on drugs, I just love the fucking music man. So, for the rest of the night, I\u2019m glad that we get to have fun, but this shit is church for me. You know what I mean? This is fucking healing. I don\u2019t care what you believe in or don\u2019t believe in, but you obviously believe in music because you are fucking here, and I thank you so much for being a part of that!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n After an intense opening to his set, he took a moment to address the audience, \u201cI make music because music saved my fucking life! My first four years [in the industry] destroyed me \u2013 it took the love and the art out of my music. I made this album for myself, in hopes that you know you\u2019re not going through this shit alone.\u201d<\/p>\n He then took fans on a musical journey through his discography, singing popular tracks from \u201cYOU NEEDED SOMEONE I JUST HAPPENED TO BE THERE,\u201d and \u201cDEAD OR ALIVE,\u201d to \u201cWANNA BE,\u201d and \u201cDRUGS.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat happens when the music stops?\u201d he paused to ask, \u201cI found out that the world keeps fucking singing man!\u201d he exclaimed, causing the audience to roar in excitement at his statement. jxdn launched into the album\u2019s passionate title track, \u201cWHEN THE MUSIC STOPS,\u201d eliciting lots of emotion from fans who sang along to every word.<\/p>\n Towards the end of the night he also gave the crowd a preview of where the sound of his music is heading by covering the iconic rock song \u201cMiss You\u201d by The Rolling Stones.\u00a0<\/strong>Leaving the stage following the last song of the set, \u201cSTRANGER,\u201d he returned a few minutes later for a short encore of \u201cLifeline\u201d \u2013 a track released in 2023 by\u00a0ILLENIUM<\/strong>, featuring jxdn \u2013 and both the fan and band favorite, \u201cANGELS & DEMONS.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI hope you heard my words and not just my fucking lyrics. All I want is some love in the fucking world!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n jxdn fully embodies the future of pop-punk rock music, leaving a lasting impression on the industry that will linger long after his final notes and lyrics fade away.
