Albums from Doja Cat, Anne Murray, David Byrne, Buckingham Nicks, Christone (Kingfish) Ingram, Ed Sheeran, Sarah McLachlan, Spinal Tap, Cardi B, Lola Young, Meredith Moon, Geese, Nine Inch Nails, Wednesday, Jeff Tweedy, Mariah Carey, Neko Case, Robert Plant, Sloan and Patrick Watson all dropped last month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">And October, of course, opened with the release of Taylor Swift\u2019s <i>The Life of a Showgirl<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">The tap is still not off. The coming music calendar includes records by an audacious Winnipegger, rejuvenated classic rockers back in the saddle, a Cancon supergroup, an 80-year-old <i>Lido Shuffle<\/i>r and more. Though he did not win, his career has since flourished. Finley\u2019s fourth album, produced by long-time collaborator Dan Auerbach and out on Easy Eye Sound on Oct. 10, is a gospel experiment informed by deep blues and greasy retro soul \u2212 something for fans of the late, great Charles Bradley. For <i>The BPM<\/i>, out on Stones Throw Records on Oct. 17, the Ohio singer\/violinist born Brittney Denise Parks has adopted a new persona: Gadget Girl, a technologically tricked-out character who imagines a chrome-plated future in which we\u2019re all tapped into our own sense of rhythm. Some call that marching to your own beat \u2013 something Sudan Archives does so well. <\/p>\n<h3 id=\"raw-html-heading-f0fdQcVJBHGTaJ-14\" class=\"text-pb-6 hl3 mt-40 mb-24 c-article-body__subheading-v2 c-article-body__subheading-v2--level3 c-article-body__subheading-v2--regular\">They Are Gutting a Body of Water: LOTTO<\/h3>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">This is heavy, experimental shoegaze music with a cyclone\u2019s fury, from analog-inclined Philadelphians who soon visit Vancouver (Nov. 8, Kingsway Club), Toronto (Dec. 6, the Garrison) and Montreal (Dec. 7, Bar le Ritz). Arriving Oct. 17 from Sony Music, this five-disc expanded edition of the album includes outtakes, a newly shot performance film of <i>Nebraska <\/i>in its entirety and the fabled, so-called \u201celectric Nebraska\u201d \u2013 a disc containing band recordings of the title track, <i>Atlantic City<\/i>, <i>Mansion on the Hill<\/i>, <i>Johnny 99<\/i>, <i>Open All Night <\/i>and <i>Reason to Believe<\/i>. Among the other tracks on the album arriving from Birthday Cake Records on Oct. 24 are <i>Flying<\/i>, <i>Out of Control <\/i>and <i>Life Of The Party<\/i>. Expect blunt honesty, bright colours and songs to get you through a variety of emotional situations. <\/p>\n<h3 id=\"raw-html-heading-f0fdQcVJBHGTaJ-22\" class=\"text-pb-6 hl3 mt-40 mb-24 c-article-body__subheading-v2 c-article-body__subheading-v2--level3 c-article-body__subheading-v2--regular\">Shad: Start Anew <\/h3>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">Shadrach Kabango, who has taught courses on hip hop at more than one postsecondary institution in Canada, uses deeply grooved tracks as teaching moments. Lead single <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E2oXNYdmKdw\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E2oXNYdmKdw\"><i>Bars and BBQs<\/i><\/a> is an example of his skill in mixing pop-culture references with deeper messages.
