Journey co-founder and lead guitarist Neil Schon has heard from one of his former bandmates in a while. And according to him it\u2019s not for a lack of trying. <\/p>\n
During an interview with DJ Eddie Trunk on the Sept. 30 episode of \u201cTrunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,\u201d Schon said that he hasn\u2019t heard from former lead singer Steve Perry in several months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere has been, like, zip \u2014 zero dialogue. And it\u2019s not because I\u2019m not willing to. I reached out. I wrote him an e-mail. And I\u2019m sure it\u2019s probably still his e-mail [address] because he did reach back to me about a year ago [about something else] through the [same] e-mail [address],” Schon said, per Blabbermouth.<\/a> \u201cI invited him to the Giants game because I knew that he was a fan as well and I was gonna be there. And it\u2019d be cool just to catch up and hang out and watch a ballgame. I never heard anything back. So, you can\u2019t keep chasing something that\u2019s just not interested in correlating with you.\u201d <\/p>\n Schon went on say that he hopes Perry is working on new music.<\/p>\n \u201cI really couldn\u2019t even evaluate on what\u2019s going on in his heart and what he wants. I think we\u2019ve seen that he wants to still create. More would be great,\u201d he said. \u201cI was totally behind his album when he came out with his album. I thought there was some very good stuff on it. I\u2019d like to see him create some more.\u201d<\/p>\n Schon also hinted at the possibility of new music coming from Journey.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, I\u2019m always working on new material, and so I have quite a lot that I\u2019ve compiled in this year that we\u2019ve had off [from touring] \u2014 many, many ideas for new songs,” he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019ll take for us to get in a room and throw it around and see what happens with it. If we get very inspired once we get in a room together and actually rehearse, anything could happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Perry was the lead singer of the band during its most successful years, from 1977 to 1987, and then from 1995 to 1998.
