Two years after the Emmy-winning <\/span>Beckham<\/em><\/span><\/span> \u2014 the 2023 Netflix<\/span> docuseries about British soccer star David Beckham\u2019s life \u2014\u00a0 captured global attention, the camera is shifting its focus to another member of the famous family, Victoria, in a three-part documentary premiering on Netflix<\/a> Oct. 9.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Victoria Beckham, <\/em>directed by Nadia Hallgren, follows the life of Beckham, n\u00e9e Victoria Adams, from her childhood as a self-described \u201c<\/span>awkward<\/span><\/span>\u201d kid in eastern England to global superstardom after joining the Spice Girls in 1994 and marrying David Beckham in 1999. David\u2019s <\/span>Studio 99 production company<\/span><\/span>, which produced Beckham, <\/em>is behind the new series. <\/span><\/p>\n

The documentary also dives into her career evolution over the past two decades in the fashion world and features behind-the-scenes footage of Beckham preparing for her line\u2019s showing at <\/span>2024 Paris Fashion Week<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Victoria Beckham wasn\u2019t sure if people would care about her life<\/span><\/h2>\n

While Beckham had a key presence in her husband\u2019s earlier docuseries \u2014 and <\/span>even inspired a viral meme<\/span><\/span> \u2014 she wasn\u2019t sure viewers would want to watch one focused on her.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband convinced me to do this documentary. To be honest, I wasn\u2019t sure anybody would really want to see what I do every day,\u201d Beckham told <\/span>Bloomberg<\/span><\/span> in May. \u201cI thought long and hard about it, and then I realized that now is the time to do it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She said a big part of her decision was because she\u2019s been \u201cdefined\u201d by the public as Posh Spice and hopes the docuseries will shed more light on the work she\u2019s been doing in the fashion world for nearly 20 years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s taken this long for me to feel confident enough in what I do and my brand, knowing that now is the time that I can talk about my past,\u201d she said. \u201cI can talk about the journey, I can talk about struggles, because I can do that confidently feeling it\u2019s not going to damage the brand. Nothing is sugarcoated.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Victoria kept it authentic when filming Paris Fashion Week<\/span><\/h2>\n

Beckham told <\/span>Elle<\/span><\/span> that she could not perform for the cameras when she was preparing for her Paris Fashion Week show, so the footage included in the series offers a very unfiltered look at what it\u2019s like behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere was so much going on that I had to turn a blind eye to the fact that they were there,\u201d she said, referring to the camera crew. \u201cOtherwise, I wouldn\u2019t have gotten anything done. I was like, \u2018Guys, I\u2019ve got a day job to be getting on with.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Will the docuseries address reported Beckham family drama?<\/span><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not clear whether Victoria Beckham <\/em>will address <\/span>the rumored rift<\/span><\/span> between the eldest Beckham son, Brooklyn, and his wife, Nicola, and the rest of the family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The family hasn’t publicly commented on the media’s reports that they’re fighting. Brooklyn briefly addressed the topic with <\/span>the Daily Mail<\/span><\/span> in early September, saying, \u201cThere’s always going to be people saying negative things, but I have a very supportive wife.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMe and her, we just do our thing,” he said about Nicola. “We just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
