Eric Dane<\/strong><\/a> has broken his silence over why he missed the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards<\/a> as he continues to battle ALS. He had been scheduled to present alongside his former Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> costar Jesse Williams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Dane, 52, explained in a story for the Washington Post<\/em><\/a> published on Thursday, October 2, that shortly before the September awards show, he lost his balance in his kitchen and fell.<\/p>\n \u201cALS is a nasty disease. \u2026 So I was in the hospital during the Emmys getting stitches put in my head,\u201d Dane said. \u201cI missed an opportunity I was really looking forward to. It would have been great to see Jesse and get reunited with some of my peers, and to be able to present in front of my colleagues I thought would have been a special moment. So I was really upset about it, but you know, there was nothing I could do about it.\u201d<\/p>\n In Dane\u2019s absence, Williams, 44, told Entertainment Weekly<\/em> that he had \u201ca really wonderful time\u201d working with him on the long-running ABC medical drama.<\/p>\n \t\t<\/a><\/p>\n \n\t\t\tEric Dane has been candid about his health over the years, including his recent ALS diagnosis. The Grey\u2019s Anatomy and Charmed alum announced the news of his diagnosis on Thursday, April 10, in a statement to People. \u201cI have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe\u2019s solid,\u201d Williams said. \u201cThe man\u2019s just solid, and we have to be careful, you know, as men to still, you know, take care of ourselves and he\u2019s got a perfect balance going.\u201d<\/p>\n Dane explained that while he would have preferred to keep his illness private after first noticing symptoms in early 2024, he knew he would eventually have to be open about his condition.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t something I ever really wanted to do. It was something I felt like I had to do,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was getting increasingly difficult to hide what was going on. And instead of letting people speculate what was happening, I just said it. \u2026 And I\u2019ve never experienced a bigger outpouring of love and support than I have after I announced that.\u201d<\/p>\n The Euphoria<\/em> actor made his diagnosis public<\/a> in April, and two months later sat down with Diane Sawyer<\/strong> of Good Morning America<\/em> where he went into more detail, saying he had begun to lose function in his right arm<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
