One of Hollywood\u2019s \u2014 and AARP\u2019s \u2014 hottest actors, George Clooney, has built a legacy appearing in box office hits that delight viewers. Now the 64-year-old actor is considering slowing down and spending more time with family rather than chasing the next big movie.<\/p>\n
The silver superstar was recently interviewed<\/a> by correspondent Mona Kosar Abdi from Extra<\/i> at the New York Film Festival premiere of his upcoming movie, Jay Kelly<\/i>, where he admitted, \u201cI\u2019m not in that mass rush to succeed anymore.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve had my career in many ways, and you know, things were winding down in a way, so I get to be home with my kids a lot, and it\u2019s fun,\u201d the two-time Oscar winner said about his twin 8-year-olds, Alexander and Ella, with human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.<\/p>\n Even at 64, Clooney<\/a> believes youth is still on his side, saying, \u201cI\u2019m still young enough that I can run around with them. That\u2019s going away quickly, but I can still do it right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier in the conversation, the Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/i><\/a> <\/i>star mentioned he recently celebrated his 11th wedding anniversary with his wife by enjoying \u201ca nice dinner.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked what the next 11 years might look like, he humorously responded, \u201cMostly be me gumming bread because I\u2019m 64, so I\u2019ll be 75.\u201d<\/p>\n In August, Clooney<\/a> gave some straightforward advice to older actors in Hollywood while speaking to Vanity Fair<\/i>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you can\u2019t make peace with aging, then you\u2019ve got to get out of the business and just disappear,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He also described himself as \u201cthe guy that, when I go running after a bad guy, it\u2019s funny \u2014 it\u2019s not suspenseful. Last month, Clooney and pals Noah Wyle, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and others made the AARP 2025 Movies for Grownups Hottest Actors Over 50<\/a> list.<\/p>\n In 2021, when Clooney was honored with AARP\u2019s Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award, he said he had avoided being on the magazine cover for a decade. However, he joked<\/a>, \u201cI wanted to do a funny bit, which would be Sexiest Man Still<\/i> Alive. I would have done some funny picture, like with a walker.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cNow that I\u2019m about to turn 60, it\u2019s not as funny. I always say to my dad, \u2018I\u2019m middle-aged.\u2019 And he goes, \u2018You know a lot of 120-year-olds?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n AARP\u2019s advocacy work includes fighting ageism in Hollywood and encouraging the entertainment industry to tap into the unique perspectives and talents that actors, writers and producers who are 50 and older bring to their work.
