That twist had the show dropped into an America run by Nazis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/tv\/articles\/peacemaker-reveals-big-cringey-twist-145502155.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:I questioned;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">I questioned<\/a> whether this plot was a good idea, given the way tensions are currently inflamed in the United States and the tendency of people to run around calling everyone they disagree with a Nazi, as a way to dehumanize them. James Gunn has now responded to my criticism, and he says that I\u2019m a racist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Here\u2019s Gunn\u2019s response when <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Variety\/status\/1974195991122182601\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:GQ Magazine;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">GQ Magazine<\/a> asked him about the episode: <strong>\u201cI have a few racists that have called me polarizing. Along the way, one of his characters draws a connection between Nazis and Christians by claiming that Nazis love Jesus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Both episodes were written by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/james-gunn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:James Gunn;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">James Gunn<\/a>, so those are his words. Therefore, if I were to interpret James Gunn\u2019s intended message based on this information, I\u2019d come to the following two conclusions.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-decimal\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>If you disagree with James Gunn, you\u2019re a racist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-decimal\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>If you\u2019re a Christian, you\u2019re probably a Nazi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It seems clear that he\u2019s set out to be as inflammatory as possible. Normally, I\u2019d root for any wild exercise of free speech he wants, no matter how idiotic. But it does seem reasonable to question whether calling half his fans Nazi racists is a good idea.
