Actor Domhnall Gleeson<\/strong>, who played the eldest Weasley child, Bill, in the films Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 <\/em>and 2<\/em>, shared his thoughts about the upcoming HBO Harry Potter<\/em> television series.<\/p>\n While speaking to Collider <\/a>in September 2025, Gleeson referenced that the finalHarry Potter<\/em><\/a> film, Deathly Hallows Part 2<\/em>, premiered in 2011.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s funny to be at the age where stuff is getting made again. [Laughs] In some aspect of it, you just check your age,” said Gleeson during the interview with Collider.<\/p>\n He clarified that he approves of the upcoming show, as he believes the book series, written by J.K. Rowling<\/a>,<\/strong> will lend itself well to a television format.<\/p>\n “But no, I think it\u2019s cool. I think it\u2019s really well suited to TV,” said Gleeson to the publication.<\/p>\n He also said his opinion may be different than other original Harry Potter<\/em> actors, as he had a limited role as Bill.<\/p>\n “And also, I wasn\u2019t in\u00a0Harry Potter<\/em>\u00a0that much so I don\u2019t feel that it\u2019s mine in the same way that maybe some of the others would have a right to. I just hope it\u2019s really good. I don\u2019t really feel ownership of that,” said Gleeson in the September 2025 interview.<\/p>\n The Harry Potter<\/em> television series, which stars Dominic McLaughlin<\/strong> as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout<\/strong> as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton<\/strong>\u00a0as Hermione Granger, is currently in production, as reported by People<\/a>. Because I just wasn’t there for 10 years it wasn’t being at school for me. It was joining for a term,” explained Gleeson in the interview.<\/p>\n Gleeson shared how he was cast as Bill for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1<\/em>, which premiered in 2010, in a 2018 interview with BUILD Series<\/a>. According to Gleeson, he auditioned to play Knight Bus conductor, Stan Shunpike, for the 2004 film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban<\/em>. He also noted that his father, Brendan Gleeson<\/strong>, was brought on to play Alastor ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody\u00a0in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire<\/em>, which premiered in 2005.<\/p>\n The About Time<\/em> actor said that he visited the Goblet of Fire<\/em> set because he was a fan of the series. Gleeson said he was offered to be a stand-in for the Weasley twins, played by Oliver and James Phelps<\/strong>.
