\n\tEXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> Gravity Squared Entertainment<\/a> is to represent the library of late British author Barbara Cartland<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tTo kick off the deal with Barbara Cartland Productions, Gravity Squared has attached producer Mark Foligno (The King\u2019s Speech<\/em>) and director Matt Lipsey (Ted Lasso<\/em>) to produce \u201ca curated selection\u201d of \u2018the Queen of Romance\u2019s novels for screen.<\/p>\n

\n\tCartland, a British Dame, began her career in the 1920s and had her first book published age 22. She went on to write over 700 books<\/a> and sold over a billion copies, making her among the most popular British authors of all-time. She wrote a world record 23 books in a year in 1976, a record that stood for nearly two decades.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the years, many of Cartland\u2019s books have been remade for TV or film. These include Hazard of Hearts<\/em>, whose 1987 film adaptation starred Helena Bonham Carter; Cupid Rides Pillion<\/em>, which became 1989 feature The Lady and the Highwayman<\/em> starring a young Hugh Grant; A Ghost in Monte Carlo<\/em>, which became a 1990 movie for NBC starring Oliver Reed and Sarah Miles; and A Duel of Hearts<\/em>, which John Hough adapted as Duel of Hearts<\/em> in 1991.<\/p>\n

\n\tGravity Squared expects The King\u2019s Speech<\/em> producer Foligno, who also counts Moon<\/em> and Freud\u2019s Last Session<\/em> among, to bring a \u201ccommercial sensibility\u201d to the adaptations and Lipsey, known for directing episodes of Ted Lasso<\/em>, Little Britain<\/em> and Turn Up Charlie<\/em>, to add \u201cversatility\u201d to them. No word yet on which books they\u2019ll be producing.<\/p>\n

\n\tL.A.-based Gravity Squared, which Beach runs with Kevin Cleary, is currently in post-production on Being Heumann<\/em>, the Apple Original Films adaptation of disability rights activist Judith Heumann\u2019s memoir<\/a>. Kevin J. Walsh (Napoleon<\/em>, Manchester By The Sea<\/em>) and David Permut (Hacksaw Ridge<\/em>, Face\/Off<\/em>) are also attached as producers. Pic stars Ruth Madeley, Mark Ruffalo and Dylan O\u2019Brien and will be released in 2026, with Coda<\/em>\u2018s Si\u00e2n Heder directing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
