Lola Young has filed<\/a> an intellectual property court claim against musician Carter Lang, \u201cstrongly [refuting]\u201d his assertions that he has writing credits on four of her songs.<\/p>\n Lang, who has worked with everyone from Justin Bieber to SZA, previously collaborated with Young on her breakthrough single \u201cMessy\u201d as well as four songs off her latest album \u201cI\u2019m Only Fucking Myself,\u201d which released last month. While Variety was unable to view the documents, the BBC<\/a> reports that the claim was filed in London on behalf of Young and Sony Music Publishing on Wednesday, and that the credit dispute has been going on for months.<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n While it\u2019s unclear which four songs are at the heart of the issue, Lang has contributed to \u201cGood Books,\u201d \u201cMessy\u201d and \u201cCrush\u201d off of last year\u2019s \u201cThis Wasn\u2019t Meant for You Anyway,\u201d as well as \u201cOne Thing,\u201d \u201cWalk All Over You,\u201d \u201cPost Sex Clarity\u201d and \u201cNot Like That Anymore\u201d off her third album.<\/p>\n Variety has reached out to reps for Young, Lang and Sony Music Publishing for comment.<\/p>\n Young rose to prominence last year on the back of \u201cMessy,\u201d which first gained popularity on TikTok before crossing over to the charts. In the United States, the song reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Pop Airplay chart.
