JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 It was a day of community and entertainment at the Jax River City Pride Festival in Riverside Park on Saturday.<\/p>\n

There was a mix of local artists, nonprofits, sponsors and food vendors, plus a family zone with fun for all ages.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here celebrating pride and love and just equality,\u201d Sondra Brothers said. \u201cWe\u2019re all human. We all believe the same. Just love everybody and be kind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peggy Schiller and Pat Bauer were at the festival giving \u201cFree Mom Hugs\u201d to anyone who wanted one.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne woman cried because she wished her mom would have been like me,\u201d Schiller said. And that made me cry myself.”<\/p>\n

As she was telling that story, someone walked up to Schiller and asked for a hug.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel loved and accepted in a community where we all should be accepted, loved by everyone,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Peggy Schiller\u2019s husband, Scott Schiller, said everyone needs hugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust take care of one another and be you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The parade is a 1.5 mile celebration through Jacksonville\u2019s Historic Avondale, Riverside, and 5 Points neighborhoods. It will kick off on Sunday at the Historic Willow Branch Park, the site of Jacksonville\u2019s first LGBT Pride Picnic in 1978.<\/p>\n
