Comedian and pundit Bill Maher<\/strong> and comic Louis CK<\/strong> torpedoed Dave Chappelle\u2019s<\/strong> confident declaration about free speech in the United States.<\/p>\n

On Friday night\u2019s\u00a0edition<\/a>\u00a0of HBO\u2019s\u00a0Real Time with Bill Maher<\/em><\/a>, the interview guest was Louis C.K.<\/strong>, Emmy\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Award-winning writer, actor, director, comedian, and author of the upcoming novel\u00a0\u201cIngram.\u201d<\/p>\n

The panel guests were Van Jones<\/strong>,\u00a0celebrity.land political commentator and founder of Dream Machine Innovation Lab and Rapport; and\u00a0Thomas Friedman<\/strong>,\u00a0New York Times\u00a0<\/em>columnist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author.<\/p>\n

During the interview, CK defended the decision to appear at the controversial Riyadh Comedy Festival, and he and Maher pushed back on Chappelle for saying<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s easier to talk here than it is in America\u201d:<\/p>\n

LOUIS CK: I just think comedy is a great way to get in and start talking. And there\u2019s Saudi Arabian comedians there. And I\u2019m going to a comedy club in Saudi Arabia the first night I get there to just see what\u2019s going on. I love stand-up comedy and I love comedians. So the fact that that\u2019s opening up and starting to bud I want to see it. I want be part of it. I think that\u2019s a positive.<\/p>\n

BILL MAHER: I think so too. Dave Chappelle said, it was in the press today, saying that you can speak more freely over here than in America.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

Oh it\u2019s not true! Do your hunk on Muhammad, Dave!<\/p>\n

LOUIS CK: Well he\u2019s a Muslim, Dave is.<\/p>\n

BILL MAHER: I understand.<\/p>\n

LOUIS CK: So it depends on who you are and what you want to talk about.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cRight now in America, they say that if you talk about Charlie Kirk, that you\u2019ll get canceled,\u201d Chappelle said, according<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>. \u201cI don\u2019t know if that\u2019s true, but I\u2019m gonna find out.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then added, \u201cIt\u2019s easier to talk here than it is in America.\u201d<\/p>\n
