The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> is breaking more records.<\/p>\n Taylor Swift\u2019s latest album sold 2.7 million copies during its release day on Friday, making it her largest week yet, according to data from Luminate sourced by Billboard<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n While the record has been out for much less than seven days, Showgirl<\/em>\u2018s first-day sales also place it as the second-largest sales week for any album \u2014 trailing only behind Adele\u2019s 25<\/em>, which sold 3.8 million copies in its debut week in 2015. Luminate\u2019s data, too, notably only includes U.S. sales.<\/p>\n Showgirl<\/em> also now stands as the record with the most vinyl copies sold in a week, with 1.2 millions copies. Swift notably breaks her own record, having previously sold 859,000 vinyl copies of The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> in 2024.<\/p>\n First day sales numbers include over-the-counter and download purchases, Billboard<\/em> points out, in addition to pre-orders of the physical and digital album.<\/p>\n It\u2019s no secret that Swift\u2019s latest album has been shattering records<\/a> left and right. Just shy of 12 hours after Showgirl<\/em> released on Friday, Spotify revealed the project had the most single-day streams on Spotify in 2025 so far. Additionally, Apple Music reported the album has the most single-day streams for a record this year on the platform, while Amazon Music said it\u2019s their most-streamed album of all time for a single day.<\/p>\n To celebrate the release, Swift celebrated a limited theatrical run<\/a> of the album\u2019s adjoining cinematic experience, entitled Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl<\/em>. The film dominated the Oct. 3-5\u00a0box office<\/a>.<\/p>\n In The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s review<\/a> of the movie, TV critic Angie Han wrote, \u201cPlaying only one weekend in theaters, the 89-minute cinematic experience \u2014 neither visual album nor concert film, and not quite a documentary \u2014 is strictly for the diehards.
