Campus Corner hosts free Crimson Friday Concert Series<\/a> events before each OU home football game, featuring live music, community and school spirit.<\/p>\n The Campus Corner Association<\/a> hosts the series for any students, Norman residents and visitors looking to get into the gameday spirit ahead of the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe vibes we try to create at the Crimson Friday Concerts (are) really just plain fun,\u201d Krystle Ross, board member of the association who serves on its game day and events committees, said. \u201cWe love to see local families visiting all our fantastic Campus Corner merchants and vendors. We love to see fans of opposing teams as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Ross said the Crimson Friday events, which began last year, have been a success.<\/p>\n \u201cWe feel like they\u2019ve really helped with what we\u2019re trying to achieve, which is kind of making the gameday atmosphere more of a festival,\u201d Ross said. \u201cWe\u2019re really excited about where we\u2019re going to be able to grow them in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n Ross said the events are designed to cater to the SEC fan atmosphere and extended gameday stays.<\/p>\n \u201cSEC fans have longer stay patterns, arriving as early as Wednesday,\u201d Ross said. \u201cWe wanted to give these new visitors a reason to stay in Norman, so we close the streets and invite our campus corner merchants to set up on the streets just to kind of help enhance the Friday atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n The corner of Asp Avenue and White Street closes at 4 p.m. on Crimson Fridays as merchants set up along the road. The corner hosts Live music and DJs from 9 to 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n Previous performers include Stillwater native Jillian Bryant<\/a> and country group Steel Ridge Band<\/a> before the OU vs. Illinois State game. Ross said her favorite performer so far was the Jimmy Lee Jordan band<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe had the Jimmy Lee Jordan band play \u2014 that was one of my personal favorites,\u201d Ross said. \u201cI think they might have run on a little bit of sooner magic, and all our bands have just been that good.\u201d<\/p>\n Upcoming acts include Jeremy Phillips<\/a>, who is scheduled to perform Friday during family weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cPhillips will make a really great addition to kicking off the fall family weekend,\u201d Ross said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Junior journalism student Shaye Brinkley attended one of this year\u2019s Crimson Friday Concerts and said the atmosphere was lively.<\/p>\n \u201cI absolutely love it. I\u2019m also a big music connoisseur, so it\u2019s always a good vibe,\u201d Brinkley said. \u201cMe and my friends enjoy going down there and having a good time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Brinkley said the food and vendors add to the experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe taco trucks are right there,\u201d Brinkley said. \u201cLet me tell you, delicious.
