Elizabeth Olsen “always” wants to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old actress felt “very lucky and very scared” to join the franchise as Wanda Maximoff\/Scarlett Witch more than a decade ago and she hopes to get the opportunity to delve even further into the comic book world of her character.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Hamptons International Film Festival’s A Conversation With… event, People magazine reports she said: “It is something that I love, and it’s something I always want to return to.<\/p>\n
“I think the thing that’s been so special about the last five years is I’ve gotten to do so much with the character that I never thought I would. There are still character through lines that have happened in the comics that I’d love to do that I think fans also want to.<\/p>\n
“I mean, these movies aren’t for critics, these movies are for fans.”<\/p>\n
Elizabeth – who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in 2021 MCU limited series WandaVision – noted that superhero-movie fatigue may have kicked in for some people, but she loves the familiarity.<\/p>\n
She added: “It’s really fruitful, and the stories have only gotten better for me, my character. I really enjoyed it.<\/p>\n
“Some people have ongoing television series that they get to return to. Very few, I feel like, get to be a part of franchises that, I know we might culturally get a little bit exhausted by, but there is something about them that becomes very familial.<\/p>\n
“There’s nothing else really like it, and I don’t know that I’ll have [that] again unless it’s for an ongoing show. I do like that kind of consistency. It feels good. I mean, job security feels nice \u2014 I think we can all agree on that.”<\/p>\n
The Eternity actress admitted earlier this year that Marvel movies aren’t to her “personal taste”.<\/p>\n
During an appearance on the Wild Card with Rachel Martin podcast, she said: “I think I haven\u2019t always successfully made choices in my work that are aligned with my personal taste and that is something I feel like I\u2019m still trying to prove when I meet people.<\/p>\n
“Especially if it\u2019s a work-type meeting and be able to express my personal taste in films, literature, and so I still think I have that to prove …<\/p>\n
“Because I have spent so many years doing Marvel that I feel like all the other jobs I have to do have to really reflect my personal taste, because as much as I love being a part of this world – and I\u2019m proud of what I\u2019ve been able to do with the character – it\u2019s not really the art that I consume.<\/p>\n
“Which I have been very honest about.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
